Milan is not known for being cheap. But lunch deals are aplenty in this city. I had a big craving for jap food so I decided to come here since it's near a shopping street too. I arrived at 12noon hoping for a good lunch deal and the waiter mentioned they open only at 1230. So I had to walk... More

This is a perfect spot opposite the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie for a reviving sushi. I had the sea bass sushi: stylishly served and with the freshest taste. Strongly recommended - it may not be a bargain price, but for the quality is justified.

I live nearby and when I have guests I like to take them to Shion because the location is unique with windows on the Santa Maria delle Grazie Square in Milan, where the last supper fresco of Leonardo Da Vinci is, and because the restaurant is perfect. Japanese with good food good hospitality faithful reservations. I like it. I come... More

To the reviewer who said the bill was exorbitant, my response is that unless you order "il menu" (miso soup, salad, sushi, tea), and this may only be available at lunchtime, sushi in Milan in general is really expensive and not just at Shion. I would only go to Shion for lunch as there are other Japanese restaurants with nicer... More

I visited Shion recently and although the quality of food and service are still good Iwas quite shocked by the exorbitant bill

The co-owner is perhaps the most experienced Japanese chef and maitre d in the city. He used to manage the glorious Suntory in Via Verdi. He often provides the fish he catches during his long weekends. Excellent soups, extraordinary sashimi as well as innovative creations of the charming lady chef. Good Italian wine labels which is rather unusual for a... More

selection of fish is limited to what is very fresh at the market, which I happen to appreciate very much. some interesting experiments: shion special (white fish with capers), octopus sashimi. try some of the vegetable creations: gomae (spinach salad), pumpkin salad. limited wine list, but good quality labels at reasonable prices. I go there all the time when I... More

no surprise on the menu, very essential cheap design, closes at 22.30 (?), closed on Saturdays and Sunday noons (?)...clearly not the money machine for the owner that it could be, given the super charming location in front of Basilica Santa Maria delle Grazie Eat elsewhere.
