BEWARE!!! If you are a foreigner and don't speak Italian + very arogant owner = most probably a very bad experience. Check all the prices in advance, (especially for the drinks!!!) to avoid any very unpleasant surprises at the end of your visit. And state...clearly if you don't want any tap water which you didn't order at all, because they charge for it. There are many good restaurants in Milano, so you better spend your money somewhere else, since the Cookbook is a disgrace...More

I am at a loss as to where to begin. From the moment you walk in til the moment you take your leave, you are coddled and spoiled. We had the Tomahawk steak for 2, until we realized it was for 4 ahhahahaha... The meat...was amazing, the grilled veggies were scrumptious, the roast potatoes were ... can you actually use the word divine to describe potatoes? Well I can and will. SO MUCH delicious food. The wine was perfect, the atmosphere is simple yet chic, the owner (at least I think he was) showers you with attention, smiles and glee. Simply AMAZING. I've already shouted it from the rooftops and plugged it to all my friends. You should definitely go (yes you!) You won't regret it. I promise you! The next time someone takes me out on a dinner date, I shall insist they take me there. I get the feeling I'd never get enough. Thank you Cookbook for making my palate the happiest it has been in a very long time. I give you 10 out of 5. See you sooner than later.More

We had one of the greatest evenings for a long time. The atmosphere is very Italian and good food. We haven’t reserved any table so we were very lucky to get a table - us and all the local people.

The tagliata is awesome, and the paccheri is just fabolous, tastes just like a seaside restaurant! Felt very well taken care of, personnel is extremely professional and kind, every step on point. The flavours are very well balanced, and gave compliments right at the first...bits! Highly recommended. Very very satisfied. In love! Assolutamente da provare! Ambiente bellissimo, accoglienza calorosa e impeccabile, la tagliata buonissima e i paccheri... La fine del mondo! Mi sono sentita a casa (vengo da una città di mare)! Mille complimenti davvero.More

Went here with colleagues, needed a reservation, because the night before it was totally full when we wanted to go. Staff is friendly and helpful, even entertaining. Even the chef came to the table for advice. Pizza margerita as house entree was really good. Risotto...and picanha were nice, tuna with coffee a bit weird.More

Visiting my daughter who is on an internship in Brescia, with one night in Milan. Well, Cookbook was a 5 minute walk from us, and what a find. We sat down and quickly discovered that there were no menus only blackboards, all in Italian, so we...could have asked, but used Google translate instead, grateful to be in a genuine Italian restaurant. We went for the scallop and courgette risotto, and mushroom pappardelle, the best we have ever had, and we are foodies 😛. We only had room for one main, but had the rib steak, on the bone. Didn't ask how we wanted it, which we were happy about, as they know how to cook their steak (rare) Incredible flavour, melt in the mouth. Followed by chocolat torte, best coffee, and limoncellos. All for a reasonable price. They chose the red wine for us, which was perfect with the food. Go, you won't regret it.More

We arrived with a group of non-Italian speakers (Australian and German!). We just found this restaurant by accident and headed in. We were a group of 9 work colleagues, all with different requirements so we just let our hosts give us a selection of appetisers,...mains and desserts. All were served by our smiling, super helpful and patient waiter who seemed to know just what we needed even when we couldnt articulate. The food was brilliant.....value extraordinary....and to top it off, we were given complimentary aperitifs (limoncello and something like Averna) and sweet treats (in big glass jars). Groaning with food (we even had to leave a few morsels on the dessert plate) and some drinks (water, beers, Prosecco), it cost us about 30 Euro each.....which seemed unbelievable value given the high quality and sheer amount of this beautiful food. A very big thank you to this restaurant for its patience, good humour and extraordinarily good food.More

Gorgeous food beautifully cooked with amazing flavour. I brushed up my limited Italian as I knew they did not speak any English so we could understand the menu boards. We had 2 different pasta dishes which were more than enough as a main course -...both seafood and a great bottle of red wine to go with the meal. We did not book but the place was packed with locals. You don't need to go to a fine dining restaurant to taste the best Milanese cuisine at a very reasonable price - €70 for 2 large seafood pasta dishes, water, bottle of wine and 2 desserts. Friendly staff who looked after us as if we were locals. Grazie molto bene!More

I’m very often in Milan and like to enjoy good food and drinks. I came here because of all the positive comments and wonderful pictures, I must admit the food here is great, I enjoyed the pasta very much. But if you are a foreigner,...don’t expect that they will take too much care of you. Plus they will offer you a warm red wine and horrible dessert. While the locals can have tiramisu, you will get just horrible taste ice cream... why? Because they have no menu for dessert, so when you ask, it depends on them what they wanna serve you. When I was still eating, they already pushed my table to the neighbor’s table, because apparently two Italian ladies needed more space for their pizza, and the waiters didn’t even ask me before, just a short apology after they did. So I asked directly for the bill and to wait for just the bill took 20 minutes, plus another 20 minutes for them to collect the money and give me the change back. I never wrote bad comments for restaurants, but since this is the worst I ever experienced, maybe it’s a good way to remember.More

she is in bad faith. foreigners in our restaurant are treated in the same modom as Italians. the dessert was not to his taste. no one forced her to eat it, she could order tiramisu. we are not racists. she maybe yes!

I was in Milan for a conference so there isn't a lot of time for shopping around. I found Cookbook was close by and went the first night. Had a fantastic pasta, spicy. The wine was incredible. Neither was overpriced for the quality. This was...my favourite dish there. Second night I went back because I liked it so much. I had a pizza but not the classic kind. It was sort of a salad (Arugula, Mozzarella di buffala, cured pork) inside a pizza crust pocket. Delicious, and wine was again incredible. I had a lemon tart with pine nuts too. Not overly sweet, but very satisfying. Sunday it was closed so third night I went back. Had a massive seafood platter. A bit more expensive but amazing. Came with a little cheese-free pizza which was even better than the main. Only gripe was the Calamari was just barely overdone. Again wine, white this time, fantastic. This is run seemingly by 2 people. I'm not sure that they are a couple or what, but they do a fantastic job. A child was often around so this is a family affair. Many of the people coming in were obviously local and regulars, so if authenticity is your thing, this is where Milanese people eat. Very little English was spoken so you have to say: pasta, meat, seafood and trust them. It's worth it. After every meal I either had freezing Limoncello or another dark liqueur that I can't remember the name of. This was complementary. Often they put a jar of candy on the table to finish off. Very nice customer service. I can't say enough good things about this place. If I come back to Milan in 10 years I'll try to remember it and go back.More
