On September 8 my wife and I followed the recommendation of friends and reserved a table at Restaurant Sissi in Merano. That was easily the best decision of the day!!! We decided on the five course menu with wine pairings. From the moment we arrived...to the moment we left we were made to feel at home in a casually elegant atmosphere. Starting with a "liquid pizza" and ending with "passion fruit caviar and mangoes", each course was a delicious creation presented in artistic fashion and combining flavors expertly. The mostly regional wines made for a truly complimentary combination. However, what was even more impressive than their culinary perfection is the way that the owner and staff treated us. this was our first time there and we felt treated as if we were yearlong regular customers. Special "gracias" to Ariana who was able to answer all our questions with patience and charm. Our compliments and 1000 THANKS to Andrea Fenoglio for having this gem of a place. We hope to be back. For anyone in the area -- DON'T MISS IT!!!More

As I have wished for a long time, at last I went to the famous Sissi 1 Michelin star restaurant in Merano. The restaurant is in a two floor building in the old center of the town. The access is on the first floor, up...a few steps. The welcome is warm and friendly: they brought us exactly to the desired table overlooking the pedestrian street. The dining room is very large, perfectly furnished, the chairs are extremely comfortable and the table is perfectly set up, with silver cutlery. The bathroom on the first floor has large windows and it's clean with cloth towels. We skipped the appetizers, but they offered the appetizer "Crackers alla Giovanna" which is particulary tasty and for first course, we chose "RAVIOLI WITH BRAISED BEEF FILLING", served warm; a very good dish and for a Michelin star restaurant, unusually plentiful. For the second course, we ate "MULLET WITH JERUSALEM ARTICHOKE SAUCE", and "VEAL FILLET STEWED IN WINE WITH POTATO PUREE": both dishes very tasty and perfectly cooked. To accompany the food, we chose two glasses of vintage dark red wine Lagrein. At last, we tasted an extremely good and innovative MOUSSE OF DARK CHOCOLATE and an ice cream with PASSION FRUIT and ALMOND MILK. The cuisine is light and easily digestable. We remained very satisfied with the food and the service, and promised ourselves, to return there. As a frequenter of starred restaurants, I allow myself some small criticism: the bread, excellent, should be served in a dish and not directly on the table; the wine mustn't be served directly in the glass, but poured in a small amount, just to allow the client to judge its quality and for such an important restaurant, the menu should be trilingual, English was missing.More

We went to Sissi, a family with 2 small children. The food was superb, every dish made with love. The service and atmosphere relaxed and friendly. Definitely a culinary experience to have in Merano.

Booked dinner six weeks in advance of my birthday. The restaurant accepting same reservation with a credit card deposit of 90 euro. They then decided to cancel my reservation, because someone else had booked the entire restaurant on that date instead. As service recovery, and...upon asking, two competing restaurants were offered, who were both closed due to holiday. Other dates for lunch and dinner at Sissi were offered as well, but no REAL service recovery was attempted. Shame. Really liked there food at a previous visit, but will not put another cent into this shambolic operation. Unacceptable.More

This is an experience gastronomically but also form an entertainment point of view... The room is almost set up like a theatre and the menu is choreographed for the table and whilst this is eccentric it’s done with mild irony so it’s not pretentious and...almost cordial I left this review too long and as signore Andrea does not publish his menu i cannot go into detail so here the memorable stuff Spagetti Omega 3 italy meets molekular 10/10 Vitello tonnato different with a twist 10/10 Ox cheeks omg There was ‘pifferling’ mushrooms with slow cooked egg World class wine list with good value You need to go Bring your walletMore

We had a great meal at Sissi. First of all, the dining room is lovely, with lots of space between tables. The service is excellent, friendly and attentive but not overbearing. The menu is creative and interesting, with a wonderful mix of ingredients and flavors....The preparation is excellent, with the result being an utterly enjoyable meal. Highly recommended, and very reasonably priced for the quality of food and the size of the portions.More

Great response by the chef to the moronic American "Karen" and her equally moronic children. People like that should just stay at home - they give American tourists a really bad name.

Any starred Michelin chef who can come online and tell priggish American tourists where to 'get off the train' is worth 5 stars in my book. Cinque Stelle! Congrats on making Reddit!
