We ate really well at the restaurant. The spring rolls are the best I have eaten (the spring rolls tasted like they were home made). We really enjoyed the food!

After nearly a week in Italy we were fed up with a lack of food variety, pretty much all restaurants serving pizza and pasta. Nice little restaurant, decent food, good service.

I really cannot say enough about this amazing little find! While it is situated on the main shopping street of Venice there is a tendency to think less of it because of this and assume that it is a typical tourist trap style eating establishment! However you could not be more wrong! Unassuming enough in its appearance outside the interior... More

My sister and I really enjoyed our meal here. The staff were friendly and efficient. I would definitely go back there. The prices were reasonable too.

We always look for locally owned restaurants when we travel. This establishment serves traditional Italian dinners. It took us awhile to find it, but we were pleased when we did. We ate a late lunch and immediately asked if nonna was cooking. She came out and greeted us with a smile. We had a recommended cuttle fish pasta with polenta... More

looking at the menus we thought it would be mouth watering food but it was simple basic food. nothing interesting just pasta with a little sauce and the so called fish. expected something more for such high prices.

The seafood was fresh and wonderful. The rest of the food was nothing special. I thought it was on the expensive side.

Unassuming restaurant, easy to miss, no particular charm, but very tasty local food and pleasant welcome. Obviously family run, right to the kitchen.

This small restaurant delivered the goods with a very nice daily special of cuttlefish slivers tossed in a light tomato/garlic sauce. Truly excellent food, served up by a very helpful waitress. There are a few tables outside and a few inside. It's easy to overlook, but the quality of the food was significantly better than other restaurants I tried in... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
