We stopped here for cichetti on a Sunday afternoon for a snack after a mid-day arrival. Sara at the Boscolo hotel recommended the place and after three minute walk we found a table to share with another couple and had a selection of excellent cichetti and several glasses of a local white wine. We were among the few tourists in... More

It is a pity that in such a beautiful place, with so many quality alternatives around, there is a place like that.. The food is below average and of very poor quality, the cicchetti and various beverages are served in plastic plates/glasses, that smell like having been used again before.. Not recommended at all.

We walked by this place after visiting the Venice ghetto and decided to grab some drinks and cicchetti. The atmosphere v was really nice with good music, unexpensive drinks and cicchetti, plus they have a boat outside where you can sit and chill. Would definitely come here again! Plus, if you want you can go to the other nice places... More

We booked this place in advance, as there were 6 of us, after reading good reviews on TA. It was just down the road from our hotel in a lovely canalside area of Cannereggio. On entering we noticed how lively and a little bit chaotic it seemed but our table was ready with a hand written note 'Jah love' attached.... More

When I came to Venice, sitting on the steps of a bridge sipping wine and eating meat on slices of bread was not what I expected to be doing, but it was amazing. The place was super crowded and confusing, but the staff were super nice and super helpful to us foreigners who just wanted some cicheti and wine. And... More

After the first visit I became a regular costumer. Terrific location, friendly staff, warm atmosphere, excellent quality of food and wine..and last but not least formidable selection of "cicchetti"! Definitely a MUST if you want to experience the Venetian vibe.

I visited for drinks and tapas one evening. Excellent location, price and such a great atmosphere! Sat outside by the water drinking great wine and eating delicious tapas. Really wish we ate here.

This was our last night in Venice and our tour guide Simona had recommended "Al Timon." Wow.......what a recommendation!!!!!! We have had steak all over the world and this has to be one of the best!!! Lots of locals eating which is a very good sign, no English menus and some really lovely waiters that gave impeccable service!!!! A great... More

We've been to this restaurant for a lovely dinner. The food is great, the meat was cooked perfectly! Although we were sat by the door and constantly on the cold, we loved our experience.

WOW, no words to describe how good this place is. Stumbled across this place returning from St Marks Sq to our hotel. Place was closed but they took our reservation. Ordered T bone steak platter to share, cooked to perfection, (a piece of meat that size takes some skill to cook to that standard). We've had steak all over the... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
