The lobby has a framed letter from Valéry Giscard d'Estaing (president of France 1974-81) describing how he wistfully remembers the good times at Locanda Cipriani. There are also letters from both QE2 and the late Queen Mother as well as photographs of Charles and Diana...More

We enjoyed our 25th Anniversary lunch here at the Locanda Cipriani, in the garden and on a lovely sunny afternoon. The whole experience was so enjoyable from the food, wine, location and service. Would recommend without hesitation. Thanks and thanks again.

Had lunch there October 13. Beautiful garden setting. Food was good but not outstanding. Service was just ... awful. Example: We had to remind them several times about our aperitif drinks. After about 1/2 hour, the first course of the meal arrived, but still no...More

Going to Torcello for lunch at Locanda Cipriani has become one of the rituals during any of our stays in Venice. It is just such a contrast to the frenetic life in the City, much the same can be said of time spent on Burano...More

We ate well on a recent holiday to Venice, but Locanda Cipriani was the highlight. Booked a lunch, sat out in the garden and we were fed royally. We started off with two bellinis, and that set the tone for a wonderful lunch in a...More

I book our lunch here about 6 weeks ago. Having had confirmation from the restaurant I had to change our date. They couldn't have been more understanding. The reply was as if you were the most important person in the planet. On the day if...More

After a pleasant stroll by the canal, and exploration of the Basilicia and Archaelogical Museum, we reached the Locanda and were shown out to a delightful shaded garden, where our group were served Bellinis before we walked in the small, rose garden. Our lunch commenced...More

An Italian friend of ours recommended that we eat there since we were visiting Burano and Torcello. It was a great recommendation. After visiting the beautiful island of Burano we took a ferry to Torcello. We visited the Byzantine Basilica and climbed the church tower...More

Lunch in the garden should not be missed. Everything was flawless and the whole experience was just a wonderful, sublime, leisurely but elegant affair. Torcello is such a change from central Venice, so quiet and tranquil.

I last ate in the garden in February and it was warm and sunny. I guess November weather is similar to that of February.

Description
Simple, elegant furnishings combined with polite, attentive service and culinary delights based on reinterpretations of typical Venetian dishes which created the "Cipriani style" are the ingredients that have gone into the success of each and every one of Giuseppe Cipriani's restaurants. Still today, they make the Locanda Cipriani in Torcello a cut above the rest. Unlike the surrounding triumphant landscapes with the churches and the blooms in the garden, the Locanda Cipriani, designed as a rustic maison d'hôte, receives its guests in a simple, almost austere environment dominated by wooden ceilings, terracotta bricks covering the walls decorated in Venetian bas-reliefs, and old copper pots and pitchers hanging here and there. he restaurant has two large rooms, both with large windows overlooking the garden. Diners can sit on the outdoor terrace in summer. The garden, is open from the beginning of spring right through to autumn. The blooming daisies, tulips, roses and dahlias, the golden pomegranate trees and the fiery red of the Virginia creeper vines combine to provide beautiful surroundings for the restaurant.. Every day, the "maitre pâtissier" creates a vast assortment of sweet snacks, bavarois, cream cakes, meringues, sorbets, biscuits and chocolates. Our maître carefully selects a range of Italian wines - with an emphasis on those from Friuli and Veneto regions - to provide the perfect accompaniment to the food. The kitchen, headed up by chef Cristian Angiolin, not only serves dishes invented by the Cipriani family and now considered classics - such as 'carpaccio' of raw meat and John Dory 'alla Carlina' - but also offers a whole range of dishes featuring fish, vegetables, home-made pasta and rice.
