We found this place maybe an hour before it closes. Tried all the different combinations of bread with different toppings and it was all very tasty.

Hidden in an alley of the Rialto Market, this osteria offers all you need for a quick aperitivo. The chicchetti are more sophisticated and very tasty. You can find meat and fish food matched with seasonal and local vegetables such as artichokes and radicchio. They have a good selection of wine. This place has no seats, it's just meant for... More

You'd have to go out of your way to go wrong here. Plentiful cicchetti and generously flowing wine that won't put a hurtin' on your pocketbook. To find it, follow the laughter of the happy locals who crowd this space and the alley out front every day and evening.

Friendly service, wonderful cicchetti and great prosecco. The place filled up when we were there at 11:30 and has a fantastic atmosphere. After some other not great experiences over the last few days this is better than great.

I came here for lunch just before departing Venice to go home - it was absolutely packed (mainly with locals I think) and everyone seemed to be having a great time. My wife and I shared 8 Cicchetti and a couple of glasses of Prosecco, which came to 20 euros. Everything was delicious, but the anchovies on bread and the... More

Just ate here and loved it. Inspired by Rick stein to eat here and in great location near the rialto Bridge. For 3 bites and 2 glasses of prosecco cost 10 euros, bargain. Lively and warm atmosphere and heaving inside with chefs and patrons mixing enjoying their wine. Definitely worth stopping into and enjoying some of the best chicchetti we... More

Excellent authentic bacari in heart of Rialto. Great value for money with excellent choice of wines and freshly prepared Cicchetti. Great service from Francesco, Anna, Matteo & Tom. This is Venice's answer to the Cheers bar, we're all the real locals hang out and everyone knows your name!

Went with my wife and just happens across this place after going to the square around the corner. Had some nice meat balls and the veg cicchetti were actually very impressive and simple. Not fancy but tasty and filling!

We were very lucky to stumble across this fantastic hole in the wall local eatery in which to wolf down a few cicheti with a glass of wine mid travels. There is nowhere to sit apart from outside which even in November...was still happening! It's more a place to eat and go, stand near the bar, munch cicheti, take in... More

Not sure what to expect, but it was very busy and crowded. Food looked good and the sandwich I had was tasty. Plus reasonably priced.

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
