Dear Customer, We regret to inform you that you review, we guess, the wrong place. 1) we don't have live music. 2)we don't serve cakes 3)our tea do cost 4€ And we don't charge for water refill. Considering that you where 3, that we have a cover charge of 4€ per person and that our most expensive dessert cost 9€... More

If you like to eat well, and you would like to accompany your holidays in Venice with a typical dinner, without risking to incur into a tourist place, this is the right place! Traditional cuisine rivisited in modern manner, and at a fair price. Service is five stars.

Located not far from the S. Maria Mater Domni, this restaurant serves Venitian cuisine as the main fare. Beautiful little place but with plenty of room inside. Their fish dishes are the best choice, fresh cooked and very flavourful. Just a bit of black pepper and you are ready to tuck in. Like in most places in venice, the staff... More

The food was very good although not really special or fancy. It was properly made. The portions where not so big, so if you are very hungry, it's not your place to go to. Staff was friendly. The only downside was the reservation part. We tried to call several times, no luck, we wrote an e-mail in English, no luck,... More

Well, in a place like Venice where the average visitor stays just about one day, running a gourmet restaurant does not seem to make a lot of business sense. Despite this general rule, we were lured by the many positive reviews on Trip Advisor as well as by a friend who had been here a few years back and who... More

Booked on line weeks in advance to ensure a Saturday night booking during carnival weekend and we were not disappointed. Fabulous service and food from start to finish served by attentive and friendly but not an overbearing team of staff. Cannot fault anything at all. All course were superbly presented, a sheer taste sensation. 2 x Aperitifs, starters, mains, desserts,... More

Happened across this place by accident but glad we did. Food was very nice and the service friendly too. But I think it;s really set up to be a tasting menu place and maybe that's where they should focus. I would have liked nothing more than to indulge in the euro 50 tasting menu but it was lunch and I... More

One of our favorite restaurants in the world! And trust me, we've tired many many many. Fist off, the bread is hands-down the very best bread I have ever had IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. My wife felt the same way. I told her I could live on this bread alone forever. She agreed. But that was only the beginning of... More

We visited after recommendation from our hotel. The service was efficient. The set menu at 48 euros was superb and far greater than our appetites could cope with. The waiter suggested wines by the glass to accompany each course and the pairing was excellent. We would definitely return in the future if we have the opportunity. I think the price... More

Vecio Fritolin from Venice is a loved, characterful little restaurant near the Rialto Bridge in Santa Croce where people have been eating traditional Venetian food for over a century. It's one of the cities where you still can find "fritolini", precursors of today's fast food eateries, popular in the 1800s with both the rich and less well off. The scrumptious historic finger food is still served, alongside masterpiece variations on other local Venetian and Italian dishes. The seafood and vegetables come daily from the nearby Rialto Market, and are on the constantly-changing menu within hours. Whether they stumble or deliberately step onto Vecio Fritolin's pink terrazzo floor, everyone's invariably glad they did.

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
