My wife and I came across this place on a 3 day Venice break. We can honestly say that the seafood pasta was the best meal we'd had on the trip. Totally recommended. Friendly service too.

Everything was average. Food was OK, portions too big, the carbonara too creamy, there are far better and more authentic restaurants particularly in Cannaregio

During our recent visit to Venice, Italy, we found some nice places to eat. The very best of these was this little osteria which we found by accident. We asked the front desk clerks at our hotel for a restaurant recommendation. They gave us one with directions to their recommendation. However, it is quite easy to get lost in Venice... More

Fish soup was excellent. Salad was good. Spaghetti carbonara was way too rich. Seafood spaghetti ok. Portions ludicrously large. Service ok. Not great. Told us after the credit card was processed and signed that service was not included in price. Figured this was a scam since no tip line on credit card authorization.

First mishap - my spritz was completely and utterly flat. Service was ok, fairly friendly, and dishes arrived in reasonable time, and weren't bad but the pizza was somewhat undercooked. Normally, I'd give it tree to four circles. But something fairly serious happened. I ordered an ossobucco, checking with the waiter that it did not contain tomatoes even as a... More

It's always nice to find somewhere to eat in a major Tourist destination that, because it isn't smack bang in the centre, you can find a table and good food. Only a few minutes walk from Rialto we had seen this popular Osteria that looked interesting, a decent menu and reasonable prices. Service was prompt and helpful, food was tasty... More

I almost never order ravioli because it seems the portions are never quite enough for me. I had the ravioli here and it was plenty, and very good. The service was friendly and the meal affordable. Worth a visit for an affordable, good, hearty meal.

Great little Osteria just of the main route from Rialto to Piaza Roma. Good menu of local dishes, wine and great service. Portions are a good size too!!

Stopped here for a small bite to eat for lunch. It was nice to sit in a quiet outdoor restaurant without being rushed. We just ordered pizza and wine and enjoyed the ambiance of being in Venice. Prices were fair and did include the usual 2euro cover per person

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
