Last night dinner - we booked it through the Fork app and got 50% off the bill. Excellent food - we had the 4 course set menu. What a surprise in flavour profile without compromising the essential Italian cuisine basics. Perfectly cooked scallops and amber jack. Modern Venetian interior with Murano glass ware and chandeliers. "Modern Venetian romantic restaurant with... More

We'd been in Venice for c. 1 hour when we arrived at Fondamente Nove. Lovely reception (we don't speak Italian)..and the waiter was really helpful. We had Panini but it was served with flair and a funky side order. Wonderful views out to the Cemetery and definitely one to recommend.

We visited this restaurant a few days ago for my birthday, the food was lovely however a little pricey. I was quite skeptical after reading bad reviews but we visited anyway. We received 50% off our mains as we booked in advance with The Fork, so it was great for us however I don't know if I could justify spending... More

Late dinner in Algiubagio; the most pleasent dinner in Venice! The most delicious starters, main courses, and desserts eaten in Italy! A wide range of really good quality wines, and cheaper ones also. Be sure to arrive with "style", watertaxi with white leather seats! A place most of us will remember, and let others knof about! Be sure make an... More

This is a treat restaurant, not a run of the mill. A set meal for 4 with pre drinks and a couple of bottles of wine was 340 Euros. That said the food was very good and the package was worth the money. Staff attentive, but not overbearing and atmosphere and setting stylish and relaxed.

Nice wine and food menu but when asked if eating or not, we were yet to decide and wanted a drink, we were told to move to the area outside of the pier. Then promptly ignored for the duration of our drink. Even had to pay inside as they won't acknowledge we were there. Plenty more places in Venice, avoid.

An amazing view across the lagoon awaits you at this quirky, welcoming space. Their menu is a delight for the seafood lover, but there are also vegetarian and meat options. But stick with the fish for the real gems. Scallops flavored with licorice and black olive "caviar" were amazing, and their amberjack marinated in coffee and chocolate was one of... More

A really exceptional place to have a dinner. Especially in September. Food is excellent. Personnel is adorable. There can be a bit of waiting due to big number of clients. But having a dinner there worth some waiting.

Best and most original restaurant we tried in Venice. Sophisticated cooking, nicely served in designed surroundings. Every dish was original in preparation and very tasty

We found the restaurant on a TripAdvisor search few weeks prior to our trip to Venice. The reviews were excellent. We booked in advanced. The menu was perfect for me as I have gluten intolerance. We were offered a small starter to wet our appetite of mashed potato and leek with mint and small chocolate shavings which was amazing and... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
