This one was a recommendation from a local. We were very disappointed. Service was curt and impersonal. They would only serve half of the menu (only primi, not secondi). When one of our group ordered a Spritz, we first got an espresso and then a sprite. The fish and pasta dishes were ok. But there was a "green" hamburger on... More

Popped by this trattoria while in Venice. Wanted to avoid the touristic place and related rip Offs. Spot on. Typical cuisine very very pleasant welcome and service. A great place with an excellent price/value ratio.

A small restaurant operated by husband and wife. Simple but tasty dishes on the menu and reasonable prices. Lunch for two with bottle of water and wine,2 Calmari and salsas set back only 35€ and was very tasty. Highly recommend.

Trattoria Cea is the place where locals eat lunch working their way through three courses for Euro 14. Wine is poured by the carafe, service is great, and food-value stands out. Sit outside under the small arbor for a relaxed lunch away from the crowds. Great place for lunch on the way to the Murano Island ferry service.

Found this small restaurant near another recommended place which was closed. Ended up spending about €80 dinner for 4, for antipasto, a primo, half liter of house wine and two bottles of water. I had calamari, crispy and light. My wife and daughter had a gnocchi with a crab and light cream sauce and vegetable soup for my other daughter.... More

This little tucked away trattoria was lovely for my family and I to visit for lunch (twice!). Lovely authentic Italian waiters who didn't make us feel silly for trying some Italian language out on them. Lovely atmosphere and great to enjoy a wine and authentic Italian food under the old grapevine covered courtyard - would definitely recommend!

Stumbled across this place when we wanted to get lost in Venice. Great spot and friendly staff! The sardines were sensational... Along with the calamari, gnocchi and Lasagne ! And owner Gigi and a very nice guy also! Highly recommend to get lost in Venice and find this place!

We stumbled across this ordinary looking restaurant not knowing where we were but being very hungry we thought we would give it a try. We are so glad we did. We were warmly welcomed, helped to order from a super host despite the language barriers. The food was home cooked, tasty and such good value for money, the house wine... More

On my first night in Venice, I had eaten at another restaurant and was attempting to find my way back to my hotel. I got lost. After walking through alleys and not having much luck with my map, I walked past Trattoria Cea. I entered the restaurant and asked if they could help me. Through our language differences and pointing... More

I went there on a recommendation from a friend that never ate there (oops). She said it was a locals spot (which I appreciate). Ate the recommended dish of pasta & clams, just kind of average. If the oil on the table is olive oil, it is quite light. A local was eating there, asked for oil & was given... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
