After a twelve day tour of Italy, we just wanted to relax an enjoy our last wonderful meal. I promised my wife we wouldn't walk far and Pontini was only one bridge away from out hotel. To say we were lucky to find this wonderful place is an understatement. We happened in without a reservation on a cold January night... More

This is the pick of all the restaurants on our recent stay, January 2017, and we returned having loved the restaurant the last time around in 2015. The food is excellent, (the seafood pasta in particular for mains and also good options for our vegetarian friend - rare in Venice). The staff are such a laugh. They are so friendly... More

Always full. Most welcoming. Superb service. Reservations are sensible otherwise you can expect a wait. We have always found the menu and service excellent for a reasonable priced trattoria. The rule of thumb surely has to be that the food is well cooked, hot and popular with local residents and families. Seafood is well catered for as well as pasta... More

After a glorious day walking through Venice we happened upon this gem of a local trattoria- busy and full when we arrived, we were happily looked after on the terrace with Prosecco @ 23€ (very reasonable!) and our table was prepared for 10 people within 20 minutes! We were warmly welcomed by all staff and Fabio our waiter was great... More

Good food at a moderate price point, service was friendly (although we could see that our waitress was frustrated by some other customers, we didn't blame her!). Not amazing but a pretty good meal all things considered.

We enjoyed our lunch in Pontini very much. The pasta with scallops and pechini mushroom was delicious. The service was so friendly, although it was full and there were people waiting try to get in, they didn't push you at all.You can enjoy the food in your own pace. The prices are very honest, not like a lot of places... More

I've been over the last week across Italy and I went for lunch/dinner in various places ( most of them recommended by TripAdvisor). Most of them been quite good but none were what I call special. Until today.. if you're in Venice make sure you come here. Seafood spaghetti and tagliatelle with scallops were to die for. And the tiramisu... More

Still wonderful, tasty seafood, still great house red, still very, very fully booked. I would reccommed you make a reservation as you would be lucky to have a table perhaps not for tomorrow but for the next evening! I am sure the quality of food is more than worth the extra effort :)

One of the best seafood pasta and fish ravioli I ever had. Staffs are super friendly. Their pasta is much better than those standing venezia pasta hyped. 10/10 Will visit again for free pane.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
