We found this restaurant whilst we were a little lost and are so glad that we did. The food was excellent and the service superb. I would highly recommend this little gem of a 'Gastrosteria' if you visit Venice.

We had a very good experience at Ai Mercanti. The food was very good, and a variety of types of items were featured. We specifically loved the "apparently fried egg" appetizer, which was excellent. The décor was somewhat dated, without having the charm you would...More

Great place for dinner without a crowd passing by.Food is very good and prices are reasonable. Restaurant is located at the small square out of the busy streets.

Modern Italian; venue for the business customer or someone looking for the discerning menu; not the typical osteria or trattoria. Expensive wine list but short fresh food menu. Familiarise yourself with Venice before trying to find this hidden restaurant!

If you are looking for a small local trattoria where only the locals come to eat Ai Mercanti is not the place. This is a modern Italian restaurant, located on a small secluded piazza in the centre of Venice. The decor is modern, stylish and...More

Small, maybe 60 covers, with tables well spaced out..Menu emphasises fish dishes; beautifully cooked and presented. Every course was terrific, as was a flawless cheeseboard. Knowledgeable staff, and a proper, helpful sommelier.Nice ambiance too. Around 130 euros for 3 courses for 2; excellent value.

This is a very good restaurant indeed. Very nice selection of wines, risotto cooked fine and with a subtle taste. Soup all right, sardines very tasty and cleverly done. Not a top experience but no doubt a very good one.

Ristorante Ai Mercanti in the heart of Venice between the Rialto Bridge and Piazza San Marco is an upmarket, romantic restaurant in very cool style that enjoys a high-flying gastronomic reputation. The vaulted dining room is decorated in sophisticated terracotta and black with impressive shining globe lighting. The bar is wittily decorated with dressmakers’ forms and sexy corsets – great conversation starters. The menu is classically-inspired Venetian of a high order, focusing on things from the sea and changing every two months to take advantage of the and array of the freshest ingredients in true Italian style and pastas and desserts are all made in-house. In warm weather the dining room sprawls out onto the adjoining campiello for the loveliest al fresco dining anywhere – the Venetians who crowd Ai Mercanti certainly think so.
