Excellent quality food, and good service. Almost didn't find the restaurant until noticed name on the door mat! Glad we had booked as it was busy, even on a Monday night.

We ate for dinner, at about 8.30pm. The service was excellent, but I did note we were the last to leave and so, might have booked earlier if I had my time over. We had the carpaccio of beef and the tomato starter. Both were...More

Skip the famous restaurants and go to Ai MErcanti. A foodie paradise in Venice. Small, intimate, with wonderfully inventive and tasty food. We bailed on a res at Bistro de Venise and are glad we did.

Friendly helpful waiter enhanced delicious food with great wines (by the glass). This is not an expensive restaurant, but warm and casual with creative food beautifully presented. 112Euros for 1 appetizer, breadsticks, cracker breads, bottled water, 2 pasta first courses , 1 meat course, 2...More

We had a lovely meal here on our penultimate evening in Venice - a gorgeous restaurant with a good combination of pasta and meat options. A particular favourite was the chocolate dessert though, which was magnificent. We will revisit on our next trip!

This place is fantastic! Our best meal in Venice for sure. Fantastic food, lovely atmosphere, inventive menu & helpful & attentive staff. I had read reports that it was expensive but it really is very reasonable especially when you consider the value. (Under 20 euro...More

Strolling through Venice and the rain started. I dodged into an alley and found this spot without any previous research. Staff was closing down the outside seating and I was graciously invited to a booth table inside the door. In keeping with the best of...More

This is probably my favorite restaurant in Venice not that I tried them all. The food was top notch and definitely exceeded expectations. We had the apparently crispy egg and shrimp for the appetizers - both outstanding. The egg was in a potato soupy thing...More

First of all service is flawless. Waiters are very friendly and efficient. Food was good too, but as the restaurant is listed as fine dining we were expecting something more sophisticated.

Description
Ristorante Ai Mercanti in the heart of Venice between the Rialto Bridge and Piazza San Marco is an upmarket, romantic restaurant in very cool style that enjoys a high-flying gastronomic reputation. The vaulted dining room is decorated in sophisticated terracotta and black with impressive shining globe lighting. The bar is wittily decorated with dressmakers’ forms and sexy corsets – great conversation starters. The menu is classically-inspired Venetian of a high order, focusing on things from the sea and changing every two months to take advantage of the and array of the freshest ingredients in true Italian style and pastas and desserts are all made in-house. In warm weather the dining room sprawls out onto the adjoining campiello for the loveliest al fresco dining anywhere – the Venetians who crowd Ai Mercanti certainly think so.
