We thought this restaurant great having come across it by chance wandering some side streets after visiting Scala Cantarini del Bolvo. We went to book for Saturday evening but couldn’t get in for 7.30 pm but could go at 9.30pm. We thought this a little...More

We stumbled upon this lovely place while looking for lunch. Amazing place - starting with few kinds of bread and great white wine, service and local. We ordered Cuttlefish ink risotto - Venetian speciality - and it was really worth it! Perfect blend of spices...More

This is a gourmet restaurant. It has two shifts for dinner, 19.00-21.30 and 21.30 and on. Food is great in general. Leak and potato soup needed some salt, but risotto and beef were amazing. They were missing many wines from the list, but there were...More

This was one of the best meals we ate in Venice -- compliments of all the rave reviews on Tripadvisor. Charming atmosphere, and fresh food, reasonably priced for the quality. All are prepared in simple but complex ways. Plenty of choices for vegetarians and Pescaterians,...More

As a starter we had ordered grilled root vegetables, which arrived absolutely black at our table, looking like charcoal. I said: "if it's burnt like that I cannot digest it, " --- trying not to offend the waiter too much. But he immediately started shouting...More

We actually waked out after ordering our drinks (Yes, we paid). There was absolutely nothing on the menu that interested us, and any Venetian that puts hamburgers on the menu ought to be shot. Went to AcquaPazza instead (one of our favorites) and had a...More

Ristorante Ai Mercanti in the heart of Venice between the Rialto Bridge and Piazza San Marco is an upmarket, romantic restaurant in very cool style that enjoys a high-flying gastronomic reputation. The vaulted dining room is decorated in sophisticated terracotta and black with impressive shining globe lighting. The bar is wittily decorated with dressmakers’ forms and sexy corsets – great conversation starters. The menu is classically-inspired Venetian of a high order, focusing on things from the sea and changing every two months to take advantage of the and array of the freshest ingredients in true Italian style and pastas and desserts are all made in-house. In warm weather the dining room sprawls out onto the adjoining campiello for the loveliest al fresco dining anywhere – the Venetians who crowd Ai Mercanti certainly think so.
