Very good. My girlfrend and I had dinner in this Rosticceria the first day of our visit in Venice after a quick tour around the city. We were really hungry and we was a little concerned because the place is really small, difficult to find and in addition there was a long queue, but at the end we decided to... More

We purchased a rottierie chicken and potatoes roasted with rosemary for takeout and it was the best. Do go there if in Venice.

Next to Suso Gelatoteca. This place offered Venetian street food along with self service meals. Do get any of the set menu. Order the made to order food. Their pasta like squid ink pasta and clams are both very good. Small restaurant and constantly crowded.

I got this address from a person who worked for several years in Venice and she was so right. We (my wife, my daughter and I) had a great lunch for 13 Euro. (Yes you read it right). Especially the mozarella with ham and...

Quick, good, Venetian, low price, what could we expect more? We always go once at the Gislon each time we come in Venice. We highly recommend!

An excellent money-for-value place where many locals visit regularly. If you are near Rialto and want to have some nice lunch, I definitely recommend this place. You will enjoy some traditional dishes in a very normal price. This is my 3rd time in Venice and I visit the place regularly during my stay. You will not regret it. However, please... More

I had passed this place so often but on the recommendation of a local I stepped in for some cicchetti . I tried the very local 'mozzarella in carrozza'. Heart attack material but really tasty. A Mozzarella & prosciutto sandwich dipped in batter and fried. Mmmmmm.

The layout reminded us of a fish and chip shop in the UK with a few tables and chairs for the use of diners. Food can be consumed on the premises or taken away - the latter being the cheaper option. My husband enjoyed a delicious mixed seafood salad and we both had lasagne and salad (washed down with the... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
