A lovely restaurant with a good choice of some reasonably priced but good quality tasty dishes. Wine sensibly priced.

This is a late review as we actually visited 2 years ago this month but my Facebook memories have compelled me to review. I travelled to Venice with 15 friends and this restaurant was recommended by the hotel on our first night. It was reasonably late and some places had closed already. Regardless, they were very accommodating and didn't rush... More

Hotel recommended this restaurant to us. The food was really good and the service we received was good also. Great stop for a bite to eat after a long day sightseeing in Venice.

Excellent food, service friendly, if a little slow. Good value for this part of town, too, and was open in January, as many other restaurants are not. We visited in the mid-afternoon, too, an unusual time, but again, this place was open. Enjoyed the eclectic decor, too. Definitely one to have on your list.

Great pasta, nice atmosphere with patrons decorations all over the walls. Pizza sauce was lacking but the base was nice.

We stopped here after a busy day of sightseeing and we were the first to have dinner that night. The food was great as was the service. Our hotel recommended it and we had a nice tour around the canals until we found it. Would absolutely recommend it.

Fresh food, homemade dishes, a large menu and an excellent customer service. All this at a very reasonable price (8-15 euros per dish).

Arriving late afternoon on a cold October evening we didn’t want to venture far from our hotel. A short walk brought us to this restaurant which had plenty of diners when others around were empty. Usually a good sign, this proved accurate here. Somewhat quirky interior but warm and welcoming. I had a delicious pizza and my wife a good... More

This restaurant is a good example of my opinion that eating out can be very hit and miss. The first time I ate here I chose "fegato alla veneziana" (liver) with polenta, and it was delicious, with plenty on the plate (though I wouldn't have minded some more polenta). The next time I dined there I ordered sea bass for... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
