We visited this restaurant to celebrate a birthday. We booked in advance and were greeted with "happy birthday" and showed to our table on the canal side. The setting is perfect. We enjoyed a fine bottle of Prosecco, bottled water, soft shell crab and a selection of meats for starters. For mains we had homemade lasagne and baked sea bass... More

Wow. Who serves BURNT home made lasagne in Italy? Really? The bread was stale and so was the service. Great canal side view but oh so not reflected in the food. Really our worst food experience in Italy. Really hard to do!

Overall, we had a very pleasant dinner. Service was friendly and attentive. Food was good, but not of quality level that I would have expected.

We had high expectations after this place was recommended by the hotels we stayed in. Unfortunately, the only thing that lived up to our expectation was the location. I've had better Italian food in San Francisco! Not only was the food bad, so was the service and to make it worse, it was expensive.

Lovely restaurant, excellent menu, attentive staff, fantastic food. Views of the canal that it sits on, was raining so we didn't sit outside, but they do have canal side seating. Gnocchi in gorgonzola sauce was to die for and the Avola dessert was heavenly! Can't recommend this place highly enough!

What's not to like about good Italian food and wine, while seated beside a canal with gondoliers boating by?

We chance upon this restaurant because I needed to visit the toilet hence we just walked into this restaurant. We thought this restaurant might be a very expensive place because of it's location (by the canal) but in fact it wasn't! We had a squid ink pasta, totally awesome, the pasta was cooked to perfection, al dente! We also had... More

Got the recomondationfrom our hotel. This place is nice with very good food. Got probably the best Carbonara in Venize, and their wine of the house was also tasteful.

After some less-than-good attempts, this restaurant felt like an oasis in the desert - not that restaurants in Venice are all bad, but we were having a bad streak. Excellent food, atmosphere and service made our last day in Venice a day to remember. Will surely dine there again when back in town. Highly recommended.

Mandated 1 entree per customer and then took our menus and walked away when we tried to order 4 entrees for 6 of us. We were the only people at the restaurant at the time.

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
