food was good but the staff were rude, arrogant, obnoxious and just generally horrible. The only thank you i got was when i paid and that seemed like a struggle for her. Venice itself is amazing and is a bucket list must, just avoid this place

I was having a hard time finding somewhere to relax and grab a bite. I wandered into the location in the ghetto. It turned out to be an amazing find. The food was really quiet good and the zabione(may not be spelled correctly were amazing. I also had the opprotunity to enjoy a couple of glasses of very nice wine.... More

To my mind the best Frittelles in Venice. Friendly staff. But be ware that just for coffee plus frittelle inside you couldn't pay by card. Only cash. Rather strange but very usual situation in Venice.

This is a chain outlet that opens throughout the day. We had breakfast here almost every day during our stays as it is so close to our hotel. It has a good variety of freshly baked bakeries as well as slices of pizza at a very reasonable price, and the coffee here was good too! The staffs here are so... More

This hole-in-the-wall Santa Croce bakery is part of a chain that offers a variety of tempting items, from coffee to pastries, at reasonable prices for Venice. We went in here for a light lunch on our last day in the city during a December visit and regretted that we had only just learned about the place and its proximity to... More

The staff are amazing and friendly. The food is fresh and delicious, the coffee is the best in Venice. We ate here every day for at least 1 meal while in Venice and without a doubt each time it surpassed any other meal we had elsewhere that day. Friday night is fun with an Aperol Spritz, Lasagne and a special... More

I liked their service quality and the taste and the attitude. The place is somewhat small. And they want cash for small purcahses. But very good.

We discovered the Majer branch on the Fondamenta Pagan while walking back from the Piazzale Roma. We then discovered they have several branches in Venice, offering takeaway pizza, cake or you can usually eat in. The quality of the food and the excellent service from the staff was so reliable, we began to seek them out....so we ate in most... More

Dinner here on the first night in Venice and then a Spritz, pizza, coffee and cake for a late lunch on the Tuesday after a very long day sightseeing. Staff and food welcoming lovely coffee and great pizza and cakes. Worth paying a little more away from the bustle which is Venice. Sitting and watching the world go by from... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
