We stayed at a great B & B A Tribute To Music on the canal and this charming restaurant with a a great view was right next door. Matteo was phenomenal with excellent suggestions and a lot of fun. We were there for pre-cruise stay. They had a Veal special and Seafood Pasta special. Both dishes were absolutely delicious and... More

After paying a ridiculously high price of €5.50 each, for a thimble size coffee, it was bitter, burnt and luke warm! My advice, keep on walking!!

Great view of the lagoon (but the boat fuel fumes are unpleasant). The antipasto (4 types of charcuterie with some oil and a spoonful of pickled peppers), 2 so-so pasta dishes (pumpkin ravioli (meh), spag. bolognese (better)), and a bottle of water cost about $75. Service was fine.

As the title says it was one of the few places along this walkway that had a view that wasn't crowded in front of the water. Once staff realised you were here for more than just a coffee the service was much better. We get it. Food was great. Very generous proportions and great quality Good draft beer and the... More

Walking along the water looking for a place to celebrate a birthday dinner. Looked this place up on trip advisor and only 3 stars. Place next door was 1.5 stars and we wanted to sit so we came back. Best decision! Food was amazing! Service was awesome too. Our waitress spoke great English, was very honest and super nice. The... More

We ate here a couple of evenings, and were never disappointed with the view across the lagoon and the delicious food. Gnocchi with porcini mushrooms, ravioli with pear and cheese, risotto and fillet steak all excellent. Great food and courteous service from the very hard working staff made this our favourite dinner spot. Many thanks in particular to Juliano, for... More

There is just the right choice or vegetarians. We had their pear mushroom ravioli. Good choice of wine. Fantastic view over water.

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
