Great spot for lunch in the sun! Delicious crostini and Aperol spritz for a really reasonable price! Lots of variety on offer, and really tasty combinations.

Fantastic food, plenty of veggie options. Laid back but bustling atmosphere. Reasonably priced for Venice. Would recommend to anyone.

Coming to Venice for the first time? Or wondering where to go for your first meal? Go here. If you're not lucky to get one of the three tables inside there's always the wall on the outside with views of the canal and the boat yard. And great food too.

We had a plate full of crostini and spritz (aperol) while sitting outside facing the canal, what a wonderful place to take a break from the tourists!

My husband and I went here to get away from the massive crowds around St. Mark's and it did not disappoint! We had two glasses of white wine and sat outside along the canal. There was plenty of shade in the afternoon to be comfortable watching the boats go by.

Fabulous little bar with an abundance of chichettis. Everything was tasty and full of flavour. Multi lingual staff. Location is fab…opposite the boat repair yard. Stand or sit outside with your food and your drink and soak up the environment. I will return.

In Venice there are plenty of places for having a drink. This bacaro is a little bit out of mainstream tourist ant-path. You can enjoy your spritz inside or outside, in a pleasant corner not too crowdy.

We learned about the Cicchetti culture on this holiday and had the all over Venice, this place has a beautiful choice and we where lucky enough to have a sunny day. Have them outside, standing up with a Spritz, Venice life at its best.

Al Squero is the only Osteria in Venice exactly in front of the Ancient Squero of San Trovaso. There is no other place where appreciating from its window the construction or restoration of original Venetian gondolas. It is a cozy and comfortable place where you can share with friends a glass of Italian wine and taste an appetizing “cicchetto” at a small price. The selection of wines you can taste or buy at Al Squero comes from small regional wine firms of Friuli, Trentino-Alto Adige and Veneto, so that it is guaranteed unique care at the quality and distinctiveness of their products.

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
