I went here twice during my four night stay in Venice. The first time because it was conveniently close to my hotel, then again the evening before my departure as a result of the good experience of the previous occasion. The restaurant is pleasantly though maybe slightly plainly decorated, the staff are pleasant and attentive without being intrusive. On arrival... More

Situated at the side of a sometimes very sunny canal, when crossing the bridge nearby it looks very appealing, so reserved a table for dinner last night. On entering the restaurant we were amazed, it was absolutely full, glad we reserved a table in the window. The staff are very friendly, efficient and professional, great menu, also great wine. The... We had lunch here in 2015 and enjoyed the place very much. Returned this February (2017) and had again a very positive experience. Very good Italian food. No shi-shi, just great food to enjoy. Very well orchestrated - please try the mixed appetizer plate - and very good pasta. Also the house prosecco and the house wine are very good.... More

We've just spent 2 days in Venice (in February... pre-valentines, pre Summer crush). Restaurant Cantinone Storico was good and I'd recommend. It was quiet but the staff were attentive, the food was good quality and (maybe with the exception of the specials) value for money and the wine was also reasonably priced for it's quality. Most of all, I'd recommend... More

A truly shocking microwave experience. Avoid if you can. Cold steak, soggy roast potatoes and a lasagne that tastes better, a great deal better, from Lidl.

On warm and sunny days, this restaurant has outdoor seating along the canal. These are really nice for lunch. All other times, there are nice tables with white tablecloths inside. Staff is efficient and observant. We enjoyed scallops and an antipasto of vegetables to start. Then a sepia al nero (ink fish and polenta) and tagliolini al granchio. These were... More

We came across this restaurant after visiting the Accademia Gallery which is close by and decided to go back later for dinner. If weather permits there is seating outside, under umbrellas, overlooking the canal. We received a very warm and friendly welcome on a wet February evening. The menu had something to suit all tastes and is reasonably priced. The... More

We travel to Venice each year and this is one of our favorite restaurants and we dine there many times during our month long stays. The wine list is excellent and reasonable and we have never had anything on the menu we did not like. We have brought many of our friends and family for the past 4 years and... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
