This restaurant is very small (20 people) so you have to arrive at your specific time. Being late is no good so it was quite comical racing around the tiny streets trying to find it. But what a find it was. Our lunch was superb. My wife had the octopus salad and I has the steamed spiny crab served in... More

Appetizers were better than the main course (prawns and lobster, suggested!). We ordered the grilled seafood for two, which is a mix of whatever fresh catch the chef found at the market that day. We did not love it. However, it is possible that we just had an "off" day and the fresh catch didn't happen to be our cup... More

My husband and I and another couple had reservations for the 2nd seating in this very small restaurant with only 9 tables. The seafood was really delicious, but our waiter was a bit snooty. In fact, we were told that we hadn't ordered correctly because we did not want the typical 3 courses! The spicy shrimp and the scallop appetizers... More

Went for lunch after looking up the reviews. I have to say it was the best food I had in Venice. The pasta with clams was to die for, my husband had the ravioli which is a smaller portion but it is out of this world. We had the tiramisu, wow AMAZING. You will not be disappointed! Make your reservation... More

I found the restaurant on Trip Advisor and The Daily Telegraph recommended list of restaurants in Venice and so glad we went. Although very hard to find it is definitely worth going but making a reservation is absolutely essential. It is a small restaurant with two sittings and they turned away many couples during the evening. The restaurant is tiny... More

Excellent cooking, in this fish driven menu. Well presented dishes, with a personable owner. Restaurant is very small, and compensates by having 2 evening sittings-6.30 and 9.30. Must book. However, the tables are crammed in, which weakens the ambiance. Bigger premises would make a very good food restaurant more acceptable. Still, worth a visit.

Let me start off by saying the food here is sensational. The service was not. The waiter seemed offended that one of our part of 4 wanted to order a side dish of pasta with olive oil and mushrooms with his shrimp dish because he wanted pasta with shrimp dish he order. He actually mixed the shrimp dish in with... More

This is a very small restaurant with Michelin stars to its credit. There are only two seatings per night and you will not get in without one. Additionally you need to make reservations via email well in advance and you will be asked for a credit card to hold your table. The food of course was amazing and beautifully presented.... More

I had made reservations 2 months ahead and it was the highlight of our meals throughout our 2 weeks in Italy. Small and charming, the food was incredible. Wonderfully fresh and amazingly prepared! Truly a gem. Be sure and make reservations.

Went there for dinner. Very busy place. After sitting down were ignored for about 10 minutes, then were asked what kind water we wanted. The wine list arrived in another 5 minutes and after ordering they seem to forget about us. The food was nice, nothing spectacular though. But what's with the sauce? The food was simply swimming in different... More

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
