A nice restaurant and the food was excellent. But when we arrived although there were only two tables occupied, we felt very rushed, the service was courteous but hectic for no apparent reason. In the end, we just slowed down and made sure that we were not taken plates before finishing our dish; but, it was odd to see how the waiter came even five minutes to "check", the restaurant was really not that busy and we were not that slow! The wine recommendation by the glass was among the most expensive in Venice without the waiter telling us about options.. not very professional (and or honest).

Recommended by a friend, this place is much more than a classic tavern. This is a refined restaurant of excellent quality, with excellent service that pampers guests with a fair price. We let Agostino advise us, who let us taste delicious and modern dishes. The best restaurant of our stay in Venice.

Finally a restaurant worthy of the name. On holiday for a couple of days with my wife we tried everything. A shame. Luckily, following the advice of a friend, we go to this restaurant for lunch. Already when you open the door the smell is of a restaurant, yes smell, I don't stink. The owner welcomes us, an exquisite, elegant, kind person and from the way he speaks you already understand that he loves this job, and that you will eat well. There were 4 of us for lunch yesterday, 2 tasting menus, and our companions shared an appetizer, then a risotto and an okra. I'm not going to tell you everything because everything can be summed up with one rating: 10! Well done and well done! Gentlemen, to eat well you have to leave aside low-cost tourist menus because you will eat badly, these are the places to go to eat, the rest doesn't even deserve a negative review (I don't do them) I'll limit myself to the positive ones! Thanks for everything and if we return to Venice we will see each other again!

Quality fish restaurant, but despite not having stars they welcome customers who order the tasting menu and commit to spending a certain amount otherwise they will treat you with disdain. The entree also changes based on the order you place. Not very empathetic waiters take your order and serve you without even looking at you. Never take anything for granted...even the customer who orders only two dishes deserves service commensurate with the level of the restaurant

Accidentally booked the day previous to our arrival in the city. Phoned the restaurant to request moving the booking to the following day.l (This would essentially cause no loss to the restaurant as we could be penalized for a no show on the second night if we didn’t go and pay for a meal) However, rather than accept moving the booking, the restaurant just told us “ these are the terms and conditions..” as in, we are gonna take 80 euros from your pocket rather than move the booking. We hadn’t committed to a tasting menu and so any claim of ingredients wasted would be a difficult defense for the restaurant. The man on the phone laughed quite a bit as he just refused to discuss moving the booking by one day. He seemed like a real piece of work. Not the kind of place you want to spend money . There are numerous great restaurants in Venice without having to feed the cynical laxy folk who would rather take your money for nothing than have you come in the next night. Indeed how lazy can someone be to make the restaurant look bad rather than move the booking.. If we had moved the booking to the next day, we would have either paid for a meal or paid the no show fee all the same but the small minded owner wanted his quick bit of cash.

Dear Customer, when making a reservation it is very clearly specified that the move or cancellation can be made up to 12 hours in advance using the confirmation email directly. In addition, 12 hours in advance, the system sends a reminder to maintain or modify the reservation itself. It is very difficult for us to resell a table two hours earlier, in fact what you had booked remained unsold. It was also specified by telephone that we were full by the next day. Everything else is your interpretation, and your inferences are offensive and disrespectful of our work. We always smile at our guests.

Restaurant also recommended by renowned guides but with a service that is not up to par. Our waiter collected the order while looking away almost with an air of condescension. They offered us a different entree from the one served to customers at the other tables and justified themselves by saying that everyone else had ordered the tasting menu. After the first order they took it for granted that we didn't want anything else and offered us dessert. The impression is that they give little importance to Italian customers, preferring the American one, which is in fact predominant. The menu did not surprise us and the quality of the dishes ordered was not commensurate with the relative price. I would not recommend it to Italian friends who are used to eating well. Disproportionate negative quality-price ratio and perhaps excellent only for the guides' correspondents.

If I could rate this a 10, I would! What a great restaurant. Augustino is a wonderful host. Nothing is too much trouble. Wine excellent, food terrific. Augustino put together a special tasting menu for us including beetroot, risotto, shrimp, a fantastic cut of beef, etc. So many courses, each better then the next. Atmosphere is really nice. Off the beaten path. Noone shouting at you to come and eat there. Do not tourist! This place is also owned by Italians so understandably they make you feel like guests in their own home. Venice has lost lots of Italian owned restaurants to Asians. Those places, whilst a lot cheaper, do not have the quality one would expect from an Italian owned/run restaurant! Go here, pay a bit more and really enjoy Venetian cooking! Hats off to Augustino and hid team for a fabulous evening! Btw, reserve ahead of time. Place is always full!

I had an unfortunate experience at this restaurant. I had booked a table for two, but due to my companion falling ill, I had to attend alone. Upon arrival, rather than a warm greeting, I was immediately reminded of their cancellation policy in a tone that felt cold and unsympathetic. I explained that my companion was sick, but the staff member repeated the policy without any empathy, which was disappointing. To make matters worse, at the end of my meal, the same staff member addressed me loudly in front of everyone, referencing my earlier review, which led to uncomfortable stares from others in the restaurant. A kind couple seated nearby tried to console me over this behavior, highlighting just how out of line it was. For me, it’s not about the money but rather about how customers are treated. Manners and empathy should come first in hospitality. This experience left a negative impression and made what should have been an enjoyable meal feel uncomfortable.

We accept constructive criticism, unfortunately the most important part is missing from the lady's story. Our work deserves respect.

We had one of the tasting menu dinners and could not have been more thrilled. Every course was delicious and beautifully and creatively presented. A memorable course was a risotto dish with shaved tuna on it. The tuna was shaved so thinly that the heat of the risotto made the fish shavings waver and undulate on the plate. It was unlike anything I had seen before and it was captivating. Lots of wines to choose from and when we ordered the tasting menu the waiter recommended a pinot noir that was fairly inexpensive. It went so well with the meal! Additionally, the tableware is just beautiful. The glasses and plates are a part of the production and what a wonderful production it was.

Venetian and non-Venetian specialities.. Well-made and well-presented tasting menu... attentive but informal service... everything contributes to making the evening pleasant. The cellar and the quality/price ratio are also good Advised!!

We had a delightful evening with good food and wine. The staff were attentive and helpful, especially when it came to choosing wine. We selected the tasting menu, which had a good selection of different seafood dishes. My favourite being the baby octopus. We let the waiter choose our wine for us, as were have different taste and were not disappointed by his selection, even more so when the bill arrived. As they were very well priced for the quality. Overall, it was a night with good food and good service.

Were very happy with our choice. Food, atmosphere, service very good, almost excellent. We tried the two set menues which gave us the opportunity to taste many of the plates of the a la carte menu. My favourites were the cod fish, the prawns in "Saor" the ceviche amberjack, the tortelli cacio and pepper and the monkfish roll (excellent). The style is rather modern cusine but nothing extreme. The maitre has been very attentive, with humor and experience. He suggested a very nice wine, which we really enjoyed (Collio Bianco 2021). It's a rather expensive restaurant but offers good value. We had a grear dinner

Excellent food and service. We had a menu recommended by the chef an all, but all dishes were delicious. Price of four course (if you add amuse gueule. Predeserts and desert it was 7 course meal) was 85 eur/person. I find this expensive, but not excesively for such experience. For Venice its actually very reasonable. Our waiter was great. Will come again for sure.

We had dinner at the Santa Marina on 15 June. As with our previous visits in 2022, the food was excellent as, initially, was the service. However, midway through the evening a number of large tables arrived and seriously depleted the service level. Our desert course was “lost” and whilst the waiting staff expressed sorrow the missing course was only located when we asked for our bill. The discourtesy of this treatment left a bad taste, but others may be more fortunate with the service they receive. There is perhaps a lesson here, that restaurants should stagger the influx of large parties in order to protect the pleasure of smaller groups.

Quite easily the best meal we had in Venice. Myself and my wife order the tasting menu and every part of it was lovely, and the wine, as recommended by the waiter, was also very good. I only wish I had gone back there another night!

Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
