Great atmosphere and service in this historic restaurant in the heart of Venice. We loved the food - though the portions were on the smallish side. The goose lasagne was excellent and the tiramisu and ricotta cheese cake with rose ice cream were a dream! Lovely evening all round, though a bit pricey...

This place is a real find, a tad expensive but excellent food. A place for a special occasion. The only downside was the waiter advising on the wine and menu and pushing (advising!) extra's or menu options that increased the price (was always an increase). We were fine with this but you need know what you want and stick with... More

The restaurant itself is easy to find in venice, beautifully decorated and all the staff are welcoming. We opted for the 6course taster menu, which I would highly recommend, with a bottle of presecco. The food itself was delectable with the Scallops being my favorite. The presentation of the dishes was good along with the fantastic choice of flavours on... More

My husband managed to book the only round table in the restaurant (along the water) for my birthday dinner. Warm welcome, red roses on the table, waiters gave good advices on food and prosecco. Olive oil tasting at the beginning of the dinner was just great. Very delicate food. Prices are very reasonable. For sure, this is the place to... More

My partner booked a special romantic table which came with a red table cloth and a Rose with free champaign. The Service is so warm and attentive. I got a special birthday cake which the owner brought out and dimmed the lights for and got everyone in the restaurant singing 'happy birthday' to me, it was such a special moment,... More

The food here is superb. It should be as it's not cheap. To be honest, I think the price might be trying to keep the riff raff out, but we felt like the riff raff when we were asked to be quiet. We were laughing quite loudly I'll admit, but when you've just spent half a thousand pounds on a... More

I had made the reservation well in advance of our visit per email. My request for a quiet table as it was a romantic birthday dinner was honored, a corner table just perfect. The service was polite and helpful. My idea was to have regional food, hopefully out of the ordinary. Yes, the food was very good and the service... More

Bistrot de Venise is a lovely restaurant in Venice definitely worth visiting if you are looking for a fine dining experience. We chose the taster menu and although not all courses were to our taste we could not fault the food or the service. The scallops, ravioli, scampi spaghetti and orange brûlée we exceptional. We had an amazing evening there.

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
