We have been searching and searching for real authentic Italian food in Venice. The service was far from warm and friendly. The food was"ok" at best. We also noticed tourists sit in a different section than the locals. The locals get the best seats in...More

This restaurant came highly recommended by someone who had lived in Venice for over a year - her favourite, but it came with the caveat that it is very hard to find. Having found it, we fully understand why it was so highly recommended. Brilliant...More

Visiting Venice for my birthday weekend, found this restaurant online for its great location and live music. I went there with a couple of friends for dinner and loved it. The food was amazing and the staff/manager were super friendly. Really enjoyed my birthday dinner....More

We had dinner here and were amazed bx the beauty of the location outside and inside. Situated right at the 'canale' where you can nice pics from Venice at night. Inside very nice and with a super (and super nice) service. We had some seppia...More

It is Monday in Venice and many restaurants were either closed or allegedly full. And you can forget ever getting a good recommendation from a concierge in Venice. By pure chance we met some locals during lunch and they suggested Al Remer. The location is...More

Finding this restaurant was a challenge, but it added to the fun, mystique, and romantic experience of being in Venezia! We ate dinner at Taverna al Remer. The service was good, but the food was fantastic! The taverna has the most romantic atmosphere!

I'd like to echo what others have said about the "Happy Hour" apertivo. It's not at all what some sites like Frommer's say about it. It's 3 Euros per person and it's basically carbs. Thin spreads on bread, pastas, and super large croutons with a...More

Restaurant is tucked away at the end of an alley facing the canal. You cannot be seated for dinner before 7:15 and by 8pm I think we were still the only people there eating - so maybe plan for dinner at 9 or so. The...More

Tricky to find as there is no signage, not even over the door. We found it on Google maps first before heading there as the reviews were good. The bar has bags of ambiance but the 3 euro food offerings are just ok. Mainly bread...More

No restaurant sign - nothing. Not easy to find but worth the effort. In the evening live piano music. Good, local food. Many locals eat here. Friendly, helpfull staff. They are not to keen about getting the tourist mainstream customers. Reservation necessary.

Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district)
with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many
transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying
areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand
for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal
bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution,
2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli
Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby

Sorry, not been there at new year. The restaurant came highly recommended by a local, but I think we just had a bad experience on the night.
