it's great cos it's very close to the city center and it's open 24/7 but i have to admit that the quality of the things we have tasted was not that high. i got bit disappointed by the cannolo.

Arancino is a deep-frited, stuffed (ragusa, cheese or pinenut) rice ball. Travelers usse to carry these arancino balls on there day-trips to eat for snacks, lunch or dinner. Our favorite is the ragusa. This shop also has pastries. But, after eating the arancino, we were too full to try dessert.

Outsize portions with some outsize punters on our visit. Had a savoury snack and coffee - told to take a table by the large,stern-looking waiter which I thought might be a ploy to charge more, but not so. The waiter saw me writing on my receipt and, to my alarm, asked me, in a stern tone what I was writing!... More

Tavola calda - street food at its best and most "popular". Make your way through porta Uzeda from Duomo to enjoy the local specialty: Raviola Fritta con Ricotta; a fried donut filled with ricotta cheese (don't expect less than 1000 cals per portion!). The interior decor is local to this type of Sicilian bar (and a few other restaurants in... More

Tucked away behind the fish market but very obviously popular with local people. Great selection of local specialities and amazing value.

Came here for a quick lunch with 4 people. Had some lasagna and arancinis as well as some beers and coffees. Prices and portions were great. We paid 16€ for 4 people.

If in Catania this is the first place you should head. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, late night snack, you can get it here. It's open all hours, you get all sorts of people coming and going, and it's quite an atmospheric and informal local spot. THE ARANCINI ARE THE BEST I HAVE TASTED... even though the outside is a bit soggy... More

Well, nothing to say much about etoil d'or, it is a traditional italian restaurant who sells various typical sicilian food. I tried the arancini but I found other places which make them a lot better. Thus the staff is young, warm and welcoming. :) Etoile d'or is open 24/7 so always good to grab something there even at the early... More

We went here for an afternoon snack. We had the ´original´ arancino and a variation with puff pastry. We thought the arancino was a bit too cheasy for our taste (only mozzarella, and fried rice). But the puff pastry variation was very nice!

Before diving into the colourful and mouthwatering Catania food and fish market get a good espresso or cappuccino alongside a super-sweet cornetto filled with hazelnut or white chocolate on the sunny terrace. The interior meets the splendor of the typical Italian coffee and sweets place, where you can indulge in the famous Mini di Virgini (the Breasts of St Agathe)... More
