The food in this restaurant was just outstanding. We were lucky to come across it while looking for something to eat near the market. It's definitely worth the detour away from the main streets. The Melanzane alla parmigiana were excellent, as was the spaghetti vongole, spaghetti with sea urchins and fresh fish. and dessert. Can't recommend highly enough. Friendly owners... More

I suppose that the restaurant is victim of its success as often with restaurant recommended by the lonely. We waited 45 min and ask 4 times if we could place the order. We finally decided to leave as it was no longer a pleasure for us to spend the evening there. The chef arrived and instead of apologizing told us... More

Food can be perfect, but we don't know. Personnel is arrogant and let you wait. So we left after 30 minutes waiting. When we where leaving they didn't even care. Never had such a bad experience in my live. We went to the LaGalleria and had a perfect experience with very nice people.

Surprised by the quality of the food and warm welcome by the Chef. Great culinary experience in a low key environment. Highly recommend

Lovely jewel we chanced upon looking for a nice meal after a long day of site seeing and driving. They set up a table immediately to suit our needs and presented an excellent menu full of fresh choices. The food was Devine and the wine pairing chosen for us by the owner was fabulous. We definitely recommend this place for... More

This restaurant was suggested by my hotel "il Giardino di Ballaró". I ordered spaghetti with ink fish and my partner spaghetti with seafood. As a starter we had "crostini" with sea urchins..all delicious and accompanied by a Sicilian white wine suggested by a super polite waiter. As dessert we got a cassata with chocolate and ricotta and coffee. Service was... More

Palermo is a port town, and although Ristorantino da Spano is hidden away in the middle of town, once the food arrives, you know you are not far from the sea. The chef is exceptionally friendly and offered great advice about starters. The bruschetta with sea urchin tasted like the sea. There was then a fish cake made with the... More

We ordered eight dishes. From appetizer to desert, everything was perfect. We liked the eggplant rolls, grilled whole fish, calamari rolls. We ate our first meal in Palermo here and decided to return for our last meal in Sicily.

What more do you want? A fish and a meat set three course menu. Delightful. The baby fried squids, Congolese and swordfish were great and I felt very reasonably priced at 25 EUR. Service was kind and swift. Was open earlier than most for lunch which is a BIG plus in my book.

Description
Sergio and Angela Spano run the restaurant since 2004. Both come from families of restaurateurs who have passed on their passion and love for the traditional cuisine of Palermo, the same passion that today move in their work, seeking the scents and flavors of the past and selecting all the raw materials with care. Caponata, Sardinian warbler, daisies ca n'ciova, squid ink pasta with sea urchins, fresh fish of the Mediterranean, they explode like a vortex of fragrances giving you a blast from the past.
