We were in Palermo in late March and chose to eat at this restaurant because of its excellent reports on Tripadvisor, and its location close to our hotel. The walk to the restaurant down Via Lungarini was lovely with several restored Palazzi on the narrow street. The staff were very welcoming when we arrived, and provided excellent and good humoured... I really thought I was in for a treat with the whole meal after tasting the starter, which was really good. Grilled cheese and vegetables in tempura batter were beautifully cooked. The primo plati was fine, but I couldn't taste the ginger that was claimed to accompany the fish in my ravioli. The main course came on a very hot... More

Our restaraunt of choice was full and they directed us to Carizzi. Initial reaction unsure as restaraunt was empty but we soon realised as early diners bookings were much later. The restaraunt is in a lovely restored building, very charming. Staff friendly and helpful. Ate pasta which was delicious. Good wine list, and overall very good value

one year later, carizzi is still one of the absolute best restaurants in sicily and palermo specifically - taste wise, value, vibe and overall excitement. the sea bass, taliate of vittelo, the fillet steak and not to mention all the dessert: the cassata, cheese cake, pavlova and the icecream (we had the entire desserts menu). we will surely come again... We advised our waiter that the octopus was like rubber. Instead of returning the dish to the kitchen, he insisted that we had been served a local variety which was characteristically chewy! It was like being in an episode of Fawlty Towers. We requested, and received, an adjustment to the account. Apart from this, the rest of the meal, and... More

Was expecting great things for this eatery given the ranking. It disappointed on many levels. I had to wait over 15 minutes before a drink was offered and it wasn't even quarter full. The starter of fried fish was decent but quite simple and no lemon was offered. The main pasta of octopus was tasteless, needed seasoning and olive oil!... More
