We ate at Mario's twice when in Cortona in June. Amazing! Mario set all the tables, served ALL the courses himself, poured the wine, and bussed all the tables himself! and it was fast, and great service, amazing food! amazing, true, cortona!

I've been to "Mario's" many times over the years, and there's a reason to it. The food is absolutely fantastic! I recommend you try the fumo and osso buco. Not only is the food fantastic but the service and location are wonderful as well! Mario is genuine, friendly and knows the hillside specialties. The restaurant is easily accessible by foot... More

Etrusca was recommended to us by our guide so we went for lunch our second day in Cortona. The pasta was just made and melted in your mouth while the sauce was spectacular no matter which one we ordered. We made reservations for dinner later in the week on the spot, and pre-ordered Mario's Famous Osso Bucco for 6 of... More

I ate here twice while attending school in Cortona. The restaurant is small and simple. The food is simple and delicious! The owner, Mario, is a funny and kind man. Try the penne fumo, it is amazing!

I have eaten at Cafe Etrusca many times in the past year during 4 different visits to Cortona. I was introduced to the cafe by my former college Geography professor, a Cortanese! Cafe Etrusca doesn't get the visitor play found down the hill near Piazza Signorelli; it's location involves a short walk up the hill near the NE gate in... More

A bit of a locals place, this is a great little restaurant and pub. Excellent house red wine and beer on tap. They serve light meals and have a portion of the shop with meat and cheese for sale. The wifi signal is strong and free with a glass of wine or something to eat. A very pleasant place to... More

We've been eating at Mario's place for a few times and everytime it was the best meal ever. Especially bruschetta! Our son loves Mario's pasta too. You can find there pleasant atmosphere. We will be eating there next year too.

Don't let the outer appearance of this unassuming little place fool you. We almost didn't go in when we noticed that only one of the five tables was occupied on what was a very busy night at other places in Cortona and saw that the TV in the corner was blaring an Italian game show. However, going in was the... More

This hidden gem, also known as "Mario's", is a favorite with the locals, and features the secret handed down family recipes of the owner's Mother, from the lineage of her ancestors. Try the rich creamy Penne al Fumo, or the authentically made Spaghetti Carbonara, or the Insalata Caprese made with arugula instead of basil, and definitely save room for the... More
