Best meal we had in Florence. The pastas were simply out of this world. The seafood risotto was incredibly flavorful, and the pesto pasta was delicious. We also had the rabbit, which was well done. The ambience is very local, and the prices reasonable.

Ok, I don't get it. Portion sizes, money value, and customer service were all very good. The food was not good. My wife and I had the linguine carbonara. It was very eggy and rather bland. Then I had the roast beef. 5 slices so thin the cow didn't even notice, and they were served in a soup of gravy.... More

We ate here several times during our stay in Florence. The food was authentic and generous portions. The three course meal deals are the best there is. I liked the Gnocchi and the fettuccine with wild boar sauce. Servers were prompt and courteous . Somewhat of a diner atmosphere, but lots of good food fast and cheap!

Went here with my wife, staff was friendly and spoke some English, portions were large and we couldn't finish all of the food. Food was great we got the roast beef, mushroom pasta, spinach, mixed salad, another pasta dish, .5 L of wine, 2 water bottles, bread, and tiramisu for dessert! So much to eat and all for under 40... I visited this restaurant on a Friday night with four friends. The food was excellent. The service was very friendly. All in very generous portions. I had fettuccine. It was very tasty. One of my friends ordered the carbonara - which he ordered at two other places. Here it was the best! I certainly would recommend this restaurant.

This is probably the best place to eat just before or after renting a car on Borgo Ognissanti. Cheap lunch, 3 courses for 10 euros including wine and water. Can't beat that!

We came to this place because it was so highly recommended by tripadviser, our Airbnb host and tour guides. I'm not sure if we ordered the wrong thing, but there wasn't a huge selection. I had heard florentine steak was amazing, so I went with the grilled steak. It was a very thin slice of extremely well-done meat, and I... More

I am a bit puzzled by the throngs of high marks for this place. It is certainly good value (Dinner is 14.50 euro for starter, main, side dish, water, and quarter litre of wine, all in--13.5 if you exclude the wine. Easily eat for 2 with spare for tip for 30euro). But, that is about all the good I can... More

According to the reviews on this place, it wasn't really what I expected or maybe what we ordered wasn't so great, but i believe a good restaurant should not be a hit and miss, rather a memorable experience. I ordered the steak set menu, the first course was 3 different burnt bread toppings 1 was bruschetta the others were some... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
