Our arrival, four enthusiastic if wet patrons who had walked street upon street under driving rain that Saturday afternoon to reach Caffelatte, was met as if we had trampled a grave. We were wet, in need of warming Tea, Coffee, uplifting home made cakes, shelter and especially a warm welcome. The Lady of the house was, of an instant, at... More

I discovered the place when passing by some Florence old residential blocks. I instantly like the old authentic feel of the coffee shop as it brought back old childhood memories. Some reviews said it's a expensive place to drink and eat, which I agree. I did spend over 20 euro but I was willing. The cappuccino was creamy with a... More

Its quite hard to have a bad food experience in Italy, but if you're up for the challenge try and find this place. It is comedy bad, I don't know why we actually didn't leave straight away. Its a small, cramped little place that was totally empty (a sign I think). The old woman that runs the café is mental.... More

Nice little coffee & tea bar. Much appreciated the styling. A beautiful butcher´s block with a formidable history. A lovely Italian lady who certainly bakes good pear & chocolate cake. Quality Italian newspapers & good coffee to accompany.

Went because of review in lonely planet. The cafe decor was nicely old-fashioned and the owner an elderly eccentric woman. We ordered a quiche and terrine with cheese - and it was awful. The quiche pastry was as tough as leather and the filling was the consistency of a block of Parmesan but unfortunately without the taste. The terrine was... More

Just happened on this place when wandering. It looked nice and not touristy so we thought we would have a coffee. Americano was short and weak. Cappuccino was cold and mostly milk. Daughters hot chocolate was hot but almost no chocolate. Did not complain as the owner seemed elderly and nice. We also had two pieces of mediocre to poor... More

I stumbled uopn CaffeLlatte while walking around Florence. The owner (old Italian lady) spoke little english, charged me €10 for a tiny piece of carrot cake (which was dry and not good) and a large cappuccino (which quality was very bad - not enough coffee and too much milk which was lukewarm). There are a lot of bad reviews for... More

This nice little cafe in the outskirts of Florence served the best cafe latte I ever had. Though the owner did not speak much english, she was very friendly. It was very nice to be at a place where the focus was on a good cup of coffee, not pleasing tourists. If you're looking for the "real Florentine atmosphere", this... More

TOTAL RIP-OFF. DON'T GO THERE. My girlfriend and I were passing by this cafe and the old lady running it started to talk to us. She was friendly and seemed kind, so we decided to stop for a tea and a piece of cake. Tea was written (in Italian - but I can read it) to be 4.50€ for a... More

My friend and I found out this cafe by chance, the owner which is the old cute lady waved at us and greeted. She was so lovely and started the conversation in which tourists like us four found it genuinely warm welcome in Florence. After more conversations we decided to sit, the decoration and the atmosphere was lovely and cozy... More

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
