We were told this place was good, but it totally exceeded our expectations. The brothers who own the place were fun & very passionate about their food - and the food was fantastic! We went with all four courses. The antipasto included the best ribolito I'd ever tasted. Second course was homemade pasta with a bolognese made with wild boar-... More

Easy to miss but inside you find a welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff, lovely food, vegetarian in our case and as a bonus, good prices. No rush and lots of Italians eating there!

My husband and I were wandering around Florence and were drawn in by the beautiful exterior and delicious menu! We were fairly early for lunch but were welcomed and quickly had water and wine on our table! We shared a pizza and were treated to fresh bread directly out of the oven (we know this for a fact because we... More

i had polenta with porcini mushroom, spaghetti carbonara and a glass of house wine. i think there was so much oil in polenta, spaghetti was good and wine was just okey.

Very good caprese salad, Gnocchi with 4 cheese sauce was wonderful. Minestrone soup reminded me of my grandmothers kitchen. And that's a very good thing. I recommend eating here

It's quite difficult to find some place for late lunch in March so find this for the firs look inconspicuous restaurant. But wow, nice surprise for me and my wife. Very nice and patient stuff and very very tasteful food. I can warmly recommend.

We went here soley based not he trip advisor recommendation. It was somewhat past the lunch time ( around 2:30pm) and we were hungry when we found this place. The lady attending to us was in some sort of a rush ( later we realized her shift was over), but we did notice a lot of local coming out of... More

Great restaurant for the best meal we had in Florence. There were locals, students and tourists all here making for a good atmosphere and a sure sign of popularity. The waiter was excellent and helped to recommend dishes for us. The wild boar stew was amazing, with tender meat and absolutely packed with flavour. Follow that with a well stocked... More

Great location on the main road between the Main Station (Firenze SMN) and the Duomo. It also has an entrance on the side road. It's got an extensive menu at usual Florence prices. The house wine is ok but honestly nothing special. Service takes a while but is friendly, so don't come here if you're pressed for time. If you... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
