Visited with a large group of friends, we had a fantastice time, great food. There is a fine selection of wines if the house wine is not to your taste. If you are in Lucca, visit Meati.

This osteria was within walking distance of our holiday villa, so a great place to eat out! We arrived too early - one review had said it was open from 6.30, so we rolled up at 7.30 only to find it didn't really open for business til 8pm. However the waitress was really helpful, showed us to a table and... More

A local recommended this as a place for an evening meal and we were certainly not disappointed. The meals are traditional and a great use is made of locally available and seasonal products. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal and would recommend the restaurant for anyone wanting to get away from the tourist trail.

If you are interested in what used to be typical italian ambiente and food then this place outside Lucca is a good alternative. The menu is full of local specialties, served swiftly in a non-pretentious garden and dining hall, with a list of very reasonably prized local wines.

We stayed nearby in Cerasomma and our host recommended this osteria. We were pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is very rustic and the food was excellent. I tried the mixed grilled meats and had a side of vegetables. The meats were wonderfully grilled and delicious. My husband had the house made tortelli casalinghi which was a meat ravioli, also very good.... More

Osteria di Meati is a local favourite haunt of mine. Food is good and excellent value for money. It has a lovely terrace and you will find a great mix of locals and non locals, couples, friends and families eating here. Please note it is not easy to find as it is slightly off the beaten track and google maps... More

This is a typical restaurant in the countryside near Lucca. Set in an an old house with vintage furniture, it has several rooms in which you can eat. The grilled meats were very good and the wine as well. Delicious cake for dessert. Recommended.

After a long day of travel, our family enjoyed a fantastic dinner at this lovely restaurant just outside of Lucca. We sat outside, right by the garden. Our server was very knowledgeable and friendly. Highlights of the meal were the mixed grilled meat platter (superb!), sliced steak (tagliata) with fresh porcini mushrooms and fried porcini mushrooms. The pastas were slightly... More

We stayed nearby and this was the only choice late in the evening upon our arrival, however, we were not disappointed. Food was good and so was the house wine. Service could be a bit better but coming from Austria, we are used to waiters with a character. If you come in summer, sit in the garden and enjoy, mosquitos... More
