The restaurant is located in the basement in a vera old house in the center of the town. It is rather small, but cosy. The food (proposed menu) is good with the Gault Millau rate of 14.

We dined here in late August and were able to sit outdoors on the cobblestone street, with the Cathedral in the background. Wein&Sein features a tasting menu, so go if you're an adventurous/open-minded eater with no major dislikes or allergies. Everything from the amuse-bouche through...the cheese course were spectacular (we pre-ordered the cheese course at the beginning so that it would all be at room temperature by the meal's end). We also ordered a flight of wines and every pairing was perfect, including a 20-year-old Tawny Port with the cheese. The co-owner, who served us, was delightful and clearly knows her food and wine pairings. As another reviewer asked rhetorically, why no Michelin Star? We've dined at restaurants with one or more stars and the food here is every bit as good. A really magical experience of brilliant food, great wine pairings, and church bells in the background. A splurge but worth every penny.More

Unbelievable place. No idea why they don’t have a Michelin star. Lovely couple own the place, have two staff members (that we saw), brilliant food, brilliant wine, kind and attentive staff.

The service staff has been amazing and extraordinary. Their knowledge and attention are unparalleled and work seamlessly with chef and his team to deliver a culinary experience out of this world. Wine pairing is intimate and closely escalates the food itself. Of note the German...Riesling is notably a great sweet. Their course menu is to be paid homage for their choice of ingredients and use of sweetbread, and their cheese cream and buttermilk butter show their dedication to all areas of cook. I would highly recommend this placeMore

Traveled with husband and in laws. We live in Chicago and have done several tasting menus, but loved what we experienced here. The staff, specifically Joel and Daniella, were inviting, funny, and knowledgeable. The food was phenomenal and beautifully plated. We enjoyed hearing about how...they worked with local groups to choose the wine. We decided to do the wine pairings with the food, though a bit of a cost, was well worth it.More

Service was excellent and attentive with great knowledge of the dishes. Even better was the food. We went for the 6 course and each dish had an original twist, with perfect wine pairing. Pricey but well worth it. We will be back.More

A tiny restaurant in a tiny cellar, but with so much attention to detail in every way! I had the full tasting menu with the wine pairing. The menu is super simple but each dish is man explosion of flavours and colours. And it's actually...the most humble ingredients, like the parsley or the squash, made to perfection, that really showed how much creativity and vision went into the process. The natural flavours of each ingredient complemented each other perfectly without the need to add anything extra to enhance them - which is really something I appreciate in general. The lady who served the dinner (Daniela if I am not mistaken) was extremely kind and professional, and she explained the concept of each dish and wine. She also made me discover some wines which will be among my favourites from now on. An exceptional culinary experience, highly recommended!More

If you are hungry you shall avoid this restaurant , the courses are generally 30 gr and we were more hungry when we left than when we came, the wines are served non stop but the food takes a long time to be ready ,...we ended up asking for some more bread as we were still hungry after 6 courses , we had rather preferred less wine and more food to be servedMore

We like to visit special places, in german you say that are not 0815. If you are in to finedining, this is a place you must try. Service is excellent, the plates are done to perfection, the colors, the taste and harmony, how perfectly they...fit together, it is difficult to describe. The portions are just enough, me who can eat a lot, was full after 5courses. They have seasonal menu, that means roughly each month the menu is changing. Wine selection perfectly matches the dishes, each course is a little surprise with impulsive tastes exploding in your mouth, so that they are still in a very good balance, you never feel, it is too much, they do it just right. It was our first but not the last visit to this fabolous charming place.More

We returned from an excursion to the Jungfraujoch and entered after 19:30 to be very pleased to be given the only free table. We were delighted with our selection of this cozy cellar restaurant. The concept here is that seven dishes are offered for the...degustation but you can choose to have 3, 4, 5, 6, or the 7. Our degustation was 4 courses. The start was the amuse bouche is fried mushroom with two toppings, shrimp bisque and calf’s liver with mashed potato and local truffle. The delicious bread came with butter, oil and a cheese ball. We had a parsnip dish first, a salmon and carrot dish with a salmon caviar toast, then a kohlrabi (type is cabbage, from the description, we never would have guessed at this would turn out to be our outstanding dish of the evening!) and the pork with buckwheat spätzli. We enjoyed the wine pairing: interesting small vineyard choices that enhanced the already delicious dishes. Fabulous, engaging waitress who made the dining experience even more enjoyable. We suggest making a booking as it is a small, and very special restaurant. Highly recommend.More

We visited Wein & Sein in November and had a great dinner. We reserved well ahead and on the Wednesday we visited the restaurant was full. So a reservation is most likely necessary. The menu is a set menu with multiple courses. You can choose...how many courses you would like and if you would like to get a wine selection for the menu. We had a great meal with wonderful wine. I highly recommend this restaurant, as I think it is one of the best restaurants in Bern.More

Absolutely delightful. The staff are so pleasant, helpful and informative. The food was beautiful, delicious, and plentiful. One of us was a vegetarian, and they were completely able to accommodate our dietary needs. The meal was a bit on the pricey side, but it was...well worth it for the lovely multi-course, multiple hour meal. This is more than a dinner -it's an experience! Highly recommend the restaurant for those in Bern.More

We went here after a friend recommending it and leaves quite angry. We arrived and they told us they were out of an ingredient for the entrance and they asked us if there were no problems with it. In the end they couldn’t give us...neither the main dish and left us starving with the tiny portions of the other dishes. It was also so incredibly slow! The waiter was only able to smile every time we asked for our dishes. Even though I must admit it tasted very good.More

Sure. But you need a reservation in advance as the restaurant is quite small. But there is enough from for a party of 8. And food, wine, service, ambience and value for money is great.
