Verdi has a pleasant atmosphere and polite service, leaving a positive first impression. However, the menu can be perplexing as it combines Italian and German cuisines, making it challenging to choose what to order. Regrettably, the veal steak dish was a big disappointment; not only was the portion small, but it was also sour, excessively salty, and lacked flavor. Additionally, the pairing of tagliatelle with the dish seems baffling. The table wines were also underwhelming in taste. If you're in search of a more delectable dining experience, better options are available elsewhere.

It is lovely to know that you enjoyed the pleasant atmosphere. Much care is taken in ensuring that our guests have a memorable dining experience. We believe that this is not just from the food, but everything else that surrounds it.
It was, however, disappointing to learn that your expectations were not met with regards to the cuisine. Our menu pays homage to the homeland of the great Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi and contains the specialties of the Emilia-Romagna region. We are sorry to hear your steak dish lacked flavor. It is quite surprising to receive your feedback, and we will certainly pass it on to the chef.
We have a vinotheque with an exquisite range of wines. Our knowledgeable staff is glad to recommend a wine that will meet even the most demanding taste. We regret that the wine you chose didn't quite match your taste.
We do hope you will give us another chance to regain your trust and provide you with a better experience during your next visit.

Didn’t expect to find such a great restaurant in the heart of tourist land.
Loved Verdi which was charming, chic & stylish.
Super lunchtime menu and a very affordable price for such wonderful dishes.
I had a plate of 4 types of meat whilst my wife had 3 types of fish. All done perfectly.
Just to finish it off we shared a homemade Tiramisu.

We dined at Verdi tonight, after booking online. It was simply an outstanding meal. All aspects of the restaurant were pleasing - service, atmosphere, prices, menu, wine list, and of course food. I have to make special mention of the pasta. We both had pasta, mine a tagliatele and my wife's a tortellini. Both were superb, a masterpiece of handcrafted, housemade pasta; light yet substantial - if that makes sense - holding its shape and flavour to the last bite, allowing the sauces to cling and glisten in joyful celebrations of the chefs art. Oh, and the tiramasu was a triumph, impressively light and a perfect balance of the flavours of this classic dish.
The only disappointing thing was that they are booked out for tomorrow night, our last night in Bern

Verdi in Bern was a revelation. Aside from the beautiful setting, the spacious and welcoming interior, the staff was very professional and kind, the food was excellent and quickly served, and the wine we chose (Cumaro by Umani Ronchi 2016) was out of this world. We went in without reservation and came back out highly impressed! 👍

Perfect service with a gentle and helpful waiter, he suggested options in the menu.

Excellent dinner, service was very friendly and nice. The host with the checkered shirt was exceptionally professional and made me feel welcome. The wine was delicious. Was a bit too loud the music, and staff could’ve been more small detail attentive but I enjoyed everything! Was recommended this place and will definitely be back.

Walked past on a snowy day and went in cos the interior was beautiful! Food turned out great too. I had the gnocchi- was fluffy, Risotto and the tortellini en brodo. Wait staff were friendly too. A bit expensive I reckon

A true to original renovated space with a walk-in vinotheque, three restaurant halls on the ground floor, a cozy salon with a fireplace and two beautiful rooms underground. Beauty and elegance are what we strive for. We are so glad that you appreciated our exquisite interior.
It is wonderful that you enjoyed your meals. Our kitchen is inspired by the culinary offerings of the Emilian homeland of Verdi - with typical local specialties and an impeccable range of wines in our vinotheque. Our Tortellini di manzo in brodo and our Gnocchi alla sorrentina are both incredible dishes, we are so glad that you liked them.

Last gime we were here must have been 2002: feeling melancholic we went back after so many years: great decision. Interior remains beautiful, staff very thoughtful and caring and food and wine were fantastic. Good that some things don’t change….

The food was excellent, the ambience is lovely and the waiter Joao was amazing. 10 out of 10 no doubt. Would come back a thousand times.

Of course, waiting an hour and a half for a course is a very long time, and we are so sorry that this occurred. Please rest assured that efficient service and food prepared with care and speed are not only critical to us - they are firm features of our restaurant that we are accustomed to delivering with consistency. As for our food, our team of expert chefs works with incredibly high-quality ingredients to create flavorful, aromatic, and - simply put - mouthwatering dishes, so we are very sad you did not experience it as absolutely superb.

Authentic Italian! Food, service and decor were all excellent. Liver which is rarely found in restaurants was on the menu making this an instant favourite restaurant to visit while in the historic centre of Bern.

Most previous reviews have given this restaurant four stars - that was generous in my opinion. I had the trio of fish with one of the fish having a distinct taste of a fish that wasn’t fresh.
Overall our meal was average.

The restaurant also contains an enoteca where you may sample our home-grown wines and grappa from the Vallocaia vineyard in Tuscany. Thanks for the five stars and we hope you will be back again soon.

Verdi was a surprise find in the old town of Bern, having visited the area many times before. We stopped for lunch and we really enjoyed it: the place has a very nice feel, both in terms of the building as well as the staff. Refined but not snooty.
We enjoyed our mains a lot: the veal liver with sage was subtle and delicious. The tuna in pistachios was perfectly cooked (pink) and a suprisingly large portion. The risottos were tasty but, as is often the case in restaurants, slightly undercooked.
The desserts were straight from the fridge but of good quality, though I would stop there for that.
They have a good wine selection and the special by the glass we enjoyed was very good.
It is also a child-friendly place which is nice to see.
Regarding price: it says $$$$ on tripadvisor, but for Bern - and Switzerland in general - I would class this as average. A takeaway can cost you almost as much.

As you know, we are located in Bern's Old Town sector and offer classic Italian dishes from the Emilia-Romagna, a region renowned for its rich cuisine. We note your comment about the risotto, however, we always serve ours slightly al dente.
We are pleased you enjoyed the wine selection. We hope you tried a selection from our winery, Vallocaia, near Montepulciano in Tuscany, for example, the excellent shiraz, Fossolupaio Rosso di Montepulciano. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

We stopped in for dinner without a reservation and were lucky to be seated. The service was pleasant and the atmosphere was comfortable. The meal itself was average. We had the mozzarella with tomatoes, seafood linguine, lemon risotto, and the spinach tagliolini (ravioli). The tagliolini (ravioli) was the standout among the dishes... delicious! We would return, but it may not be our first choice.
