Nice and elegant Italian restaurant downtown Thun, installed in a building which was before the City orphanage ("Waisenhaus" in German). The food is excellent, adapted to the season and nicely presented. The service is nice, professional, rapid and smiling, all of them speak quite well English. Special mention for the asparagus Milanese-style (delicious, with crusty Parmesan and a fried egg)... More

We had a wonderful lunch at Waisenhaus situated at the end of Lake Thun...a superb setting along the fast flowing river surrounded by nice shops and restaurants. The restaurants terrace is alongside the river in the shade. All in all a beautiful setting for a late lunch. We had a really nice salad with fish fillets that was very tasty.... More

Waisenhaus was a beautiful restaurant and it had very good food. I had the gnocchi and it was good however very cheesy. The location was very nice and the service was also commendable. They served us very well and were very good with my friends' young child. They had colour pencils and paper for her to draw and they cooked... More

I usually like to eat off the beaten path so was expecting little from Waisenhaus as it is on the main shopping street! to my pleasant surprise, it turned out to be a kid friendly, super italian meal, with excellent service, great wine and good humoured management. Lovely find and highly recommended. Everyone enjoyed their pick and the ambiance was... More

We had an excellent waiter. He had the kitchen make two custom dishes for us. There were 6 of us total. The trifecta mousse dessert was the cherry on top of a beautiful afternoon meal.

Nice warm evening, nice terrasse .... But the waitresses had no mercy: I arrived 10.10pm - "No, nothing to eat, kitchen is closed " ..."Maybe just a salad?" ...."No, that is our rules!" What a shock! WaisenhausBindella is promising Italian hospitality- but such a treatment in Italy would NEVER happen!!!!!!!!! I will definitely not come back here.

My wife and I had a quick and lovely stopover here for lunch before driving off again as we were en route to somewhere else. The outdoor al fresco area is a charm and a place to watch people go by. We had spaghetti vongole, spaghetti aglio oglio, and chicken schnitzel. All came out well and we were pleased to... More

We were a party of nine, there for lunch, so we choose from the lunch menu suggestion. The soup of the day was ok, but the risotto and the saltinbocca were really good. Maybe little bit salty, but overall I would order them again several time :-) unfortunately no time to test the desert that looked very good. Would also... More

Well they've changed their menu, sadly removing my fave their spaghetti bolognese. While I am confident they would have accommodated that as a request, I ordered off the new menu. The pumpkin gnocchi was plain, uninspired and I can only assume that pumpkin was added. Skip that option. My hubby ordered lasagne verde that was up to Waisenhaus standards and... More

We ate here without booking, but the staff were great about it. I suspect that Swiss people always book, and the habit of travellers to not book is a bit of a shock, or a nuisance. The food was lovely, as was the wine, but it was the most expensive meal we ate all week. The staff were very friendly... More
