Placed for a spectacular view, great for a meal or just a rest when hiking or tobogganing, the terrace is magnificent. The staff is nice, the menu offers different local specialties which are tasty and are served fast. Unfortunately have to rate as "average" echoing other reviews: the portions are small and on top quite overpriced. Overall assume 50% premium... More

This is where the bus for Grindelwald leaves if you walk down from the Faulhorn. On an August Monday I missed the last one, which left at 6pm. The nice management were happy to call a taxi - a steep CHF 60 to the village, but the alternative would have been a two hour walk. While waiting for my taxi... More

Half way through a walk in the mountains we stopped in this restaurant. We shared 2 meals which we wanted to split half and half so asked for 2 extra plates to put the food onto as one came in a bowl. To our astonishment the waitress said she would have to charge extra for washing up the plates we... More

We have eaten here a number of times. We take the bus from Grindelwald, which is a great experience in itself, given the winding roads. Once we arrive we always have lunch at the restaurant and enjoy the tremendous views of the mountains before setting off on the walking paths to Bort or Grindelwald. We have been in both summer... I ordered the apple pie for CHF 8.- and received a ridiculously sized mini portion. At first I thought they had misunderstood and brought me a half portion. I complained about the size and they said it was homemade and thats why it cost so much. It was gone in 2 bites (no joke). In all fairness, the staff was... More

We stopped here for lunch after walking down from the Faulhorn. Unfortunately, the Grindelwald bus arrived at the same time, full of hungry tourists and locals. This added to the atmosphere in the restaurant, but as there was only one waitress serving, the service was a bit slow. However, the freshly made vegetable soup and lovely bread was filling, and... This is a highly popular place because there is not much else to do in the non winter months. Thankfully, it was highly enjoyable because the food was served fast and of a high quality, despite the monopoly of sorts. Not forgetting to mention the unbeatable views you get while enjoying the food.

After walking from First to Bachalpsee and then to Bussalp we enjoyed a nice piece of cake with cream. It was homemade and delicious! I have been there before night sledding last winter and had fondue and it was very good as well.
