Sometimes restaurants can seem false. All for show. Manufactured. Le Vieil Ouchy isn't false in any way. It's small, friendly and serves nicely cooked food in an old fashioned, traditional way. Steak frites. Fondue. That sort of thing. A small but sensible wine menu. And prices at the sensible end of extortionate for us Brits!!

A great spot for the traditional Swiss foods. The fondue was quite tasty as were the starters. A language barrier made ordering a bit challenging but that's half the fun of exploring new destinations. Service was very attentive.

I booked this place on Monday, rainy and almost empty Laussane. East to book, and ask for the right table. It is small enough, nice and warm. The candle light dinner with authentic Swiss food. This place got packed quickly. Reservation is recommended. Loved the Rosti with mushroom.

Recommended by hotel concierge, this was the right choice for a very nice traditional Swiss meal of cheese fondue and steak. Very old restaurant but very cosy and courteous staff.

Great Fondue. Had to come back after we first went in 2015. The owner is a gem and couldn't do enough to make sure we enjoyed our visit.

We wanted to show our two young boys a traditional fondue on our brief lunch stop in Lausanne after taking the boat across the Lake from Evian. This cafe was welcoming, perfectly located near the lake, boat quay and children's area. It was busy at lunchtime but with the nice outside seating in the sunshine (in February!) it was still... My husband and I and another couple stopped by Le Vieil Ouchy for dinner our first night in Switzerland. We did not have a reservation but decided to drop by on a warm sunny evening after walking along the promenade on Lausanne's port. Unfortunately the outside terrace was full so we were seated inside. We were the only customers in... More

After walking the lake promenade, chose this restaurant as it was busy with locals (always a good indication) small but cosy with authentic vibe, and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Variety of meals looked great too. Sat at the outside tables overlooking the waterfront, chose a delicious local white wine (recommended by the server) from the extensive list and... More
