Outstanding food and excellent wine list! Great service too. However the acting chef service insistence on having all windows closed made us feel uncomfortable in these COVID times.

Nice restaurant if they have spare tables - they turn horrible for bigger groups. Once I wanted to do an aperitif there and was coldhearted sent off because they would not expect enough revenue .... thanks god there are some newly opened Restaurants nearby- íve...become a regular there...More

Beautiful food, fantastic tapas great atmosphere. I loved sitting outside, the service was very efficient, even though it was about 40 of us in the group. Very helpful and kind waitresses.

Visited this restaurant a few times now – one of the best places in Zurich. The menu is varied and creative, with plenty of delicious veggie and meat options. I recommend the “Zucchini-Blüten”. Great atmosphere and fantastic wines too. In the summer, you can also...sit out on the terrace, with is an added bonus.More

... the so called Old Lion is a friendly but rather busy place. The service is attentive, the dishes are neatly presented and well prepared: a kind of Italian cuisine with remarkably local influences - we enjoy it every time when we are there. The...wine list is very OK, especially for Italian wines.More

This restaurant has been recommended to us for their Tavolata. Each course consists of several plates (predefined by the restaurant) for you to share. Therefore, you should be at least two persons. If you are still hungry, you can order the desert Tavolata that consists...of four different deserts. The price is normal for Zurich (which means that it is rather high). Still, we enjoyed having the team-dinner at this restaurant.More

Z. Alten Lowen is indubitably one of the best dining experiences one could have in Zurich. And the whole experience goes up a few levels of one gets a table outside on a mild evening. The restaurant is famous for its ‘tabulata’, which is a...series of starters followed by a selection of mains, all of which are to be shared. Each dish was exquisite and we were well beyond being stuffed to the limit by the time the mains arrived! The restaurant also has a formidable wine list that is designed to match every palate. The price may appear steep but I would argue that for Zurich, this is a bargain. To go as a group would be my recommendation.More

This one might have to go in the "splurge" category, but if you're going to splurge somewhere on your visit to Zurich, I'd say do it here. A friend and I went for dinner and got the tavolata, a multi-course meal that begins with a...procession of appetizers, continues through a pasta course, and then features a main dish. We also got dessert and wine to complement the meal. Everything is expertly prepared and presented. I'll have to say this was one of the best meals I've ever had. When we went, with our choice of main course, the tavolata itself was 55 Swiss francs per person, so as I said, a bit of a splurge, but also unforgettable. The restaurant is a bit north of the Altstadt, in an attractive traditional building, and it can be reached in minutes on the #10 tram. It's family-run and all the staff are courteous and helpful. They speak perfect English for those who don't know German. We had a memorable and happy evening and I hope this recommendation will encourage others to try the restaurant, because I believe they'll have the same kind of experience themselves.More

Arrived late at our hotel so wanted somewhere to eat that was close and this was almost next door. Staff were absolutely lovely and could not be more helpful. Both our starters were lovely but mains left a lot to be desired. I had one...of the pasta dishes that was so salty and swimming in butter, I could only eat a little. My husband had the risotto and that was not great either. The menu was only in german which caused us some problems - not even available in french, let alone english. Their excuse was that they changed the menu so regularly they couldn't do in other languages. What about a small blackboard like other restaurants do? Anyway it was our problem not theirs and one of the girls was extremely patient with us, translating each course. The wine we chose was fabulous. Cost - a lot for what we had.More
