Stumbled across this restaurant in the red light district, food was amazing and staff very friendly with a great story about the Dalai Lama.

Stumbled across this place on a rainy night in Amsterdam. The service was very good and the food was excellent. All main dishes come with a large bowl of rice. The prices were also great considering it is in a tourist part of Amsterdam. Would certainly revisit when next in town.

Location if this restaurant is quite unfortunate, in the midst if the Red Light District, where most establishments are guilty by association. This place, however, is like an inexplicable oasis in the midst of a sea of cheap pleasures. Food and service are both amazing! The atmosphere is very cosy and is definitely worth a visit.

We booked a table here for the Saturday night, the woman didn't seem to know we had booked (or care) she wasn't too friendly, have to give the place 4 stars though as the food was great.

This restaurant was the worst service I have ever had, I came into the restaurant with my friends and asked to be seated away from the door as it was cold. I then got a rude no from the lady who worked at the restaurant, she then slammed down 6 menus on the table. After her attitude we looked at... More

The food in this place is amazing, and the portions extremely generous. I visited the restaurant with a couple of friends, and we ordered a couple of starters to share, and a main dish each. Each dish was amazing in its own distinctive way. I love spicy food so got the Khamba beef, and was not disappointed. The portions are... More

We went for lunch one day and thoroughly enjoyed the food. I'm not sure what Tibetan food is, but it was pretty much Chinese. I would recommend this restaurant, nice food, quick service, lovely.

Visited on a Saturday night, not too busy , probably a hidden gem. Restaurant name isn't trendy. The food was excellent . Reasonably priced. I had a sizzling dish the theatre of this dish was slightly lost as it was served in tin foil but tasted superb.

Came here with my girlfriend who's a veggie, and fancied something Chinese for dinner, thought we'd give Tibetanese a go since it's meant to be similar. We were greeted and sat at a small table by a friendly woman (think she was the proprietor!), but no more friendly than any other place in Amsterdam. Quite a sizeable menu, and if... More

The food was horrible. The decor was like a Tibetan monastery. Actually a Chinese place NOT Tibetan.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
