For starters I had the garlic mushrooms which was sublime. And for main I had the Falafel. Both dishes were beautifully prepared and laid out on the plate. The service was also fast and nice. And the food came quite fast. Special mention goes to the house beer Gulpener ur-pils.

My sisters and I chose this restaurant for our special night out. We had all been here before and had good experiences. However, this visit was a disappointment. Granted, the food is good (we ordered 2-3 course meals plus prosecco and a bottle of wine), but - without exaggerating - service was terrible. After seating it took the waiters 15... More

The renovation is nice and the food is still great!! We will be back again. Service is typical Dutch laid back, but they're attentive as needed.

As regular, but infrequent visitors (we live in Den Haag) my wife and I have been enjoying De Waaghals for 5+ years. The food, service and ambience are always great, but last year's Christmas menu was superb. Long may it continue - it's a national treasure!

This is a vegetarian restaurant that I have visited before. Excellent meal with leisurely but friendly service, good and varied beers and wines and a cat! There are few frills but who needs them? What's not to like?

Although we understood 95% of the menu in Dutch we struggled with a couple of items and the waiter quickly brought us the menu in English. The food was creative, different (in a good sense) and delicious. Definitely has an Asian influence in the cooking and it is not a veg and two veg sort of place. Good sized portions... More

This is as far as I know the first real vegetarian restaurant in Amsterdam. We have been here numerous times and they remain serving the same wonderful meals. It was a pleasure going back there, the service was kind and quick and the atmosphere pleasant. We like to congratulate them for staying in business for such a long time.

I am not an ideological vegetarian, but I also do not share the ideology that a good meal must include meat or fish. The good news about this restaurant is that the menu lacks the "veggie sausage" and "soy schnitzel" type of items. Rather, it lists a number of straight vegetarian dishes, some of them even vegan. The bad news... More

De WAAGHALS (= The Dare-devil) is an attractive vegetarian restaurant. The atmosphere is informal, but the food is refined and creative. Organic ingredients are used as much as possible. Each month a dish focuses on a different country. Our menu changes twice a month. There is a large selection of drinks available, from various sorts of tea and fruit juices to different kinds of beer (including locally brewed ones) and organic wines. The interior is very comfortable and on nice summer evenings you can dine outside. De WAAGHALS is very popular with a growing number of non-vegetarians. It is advisable to book in advance
