Restaurant Reflet, in the NH Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky, Dam Square Nº 9) closes at the end of October 2014 for a nine month revamp. New designs, new concepts... and even a new name (or so the website says). Our hope is that the corps de...More

The restaurant closes on November 1st 2014 and will re-open in December 2015, so my review will, unfortunately, only be relevant for another three weeks. We went here last night and found an enchanting and oh, so beautiful restaurant dating back to 1885 in unique...More

We visited in early August 2014 apparently after the restaurant had been closed for two weeks. My wife and I were the only diners in a huge room at 9 pm. We chose a 6 course "chef's surprise" taster meal with a glass of house...More

I was the sole diner, the night that I ate at Reflet. I had eaten here eight years earlier and had had a wonderful experience. This is why on a three day visit this was one of the restaurants I chose to visit. Because I...More

Dinner in one of the oldest restaurants in Amsterdam was awesome, with the chef producing some wonderful dishes. A few had truffles (my favorite), which had subtle and varied flavors. My souffle was very tasty and my steak were cooked to order and very flavorful....More

To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the
Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its
saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to
view some of the city’s most picturesque canals,
historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples
of traditional local architecture – not to mention
Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist

Brasserie Reflet right on Amsterdam’s Dam Square is officially a National Monument, and not many restaurants can make that claim. Opened in 1885, timeless Reflet has perfect Belle Epoque decor that will transport you back to that highly decorative age. There are soaring ceilings, ornate mouldings and carvings, fluted columns, luxurious drapery and all done in shades of cream and gold and terracotta. The modern menu has its roots in fine Burgundian cooking, including dishes like tempura of smoked eel with potato salad and lemon creme fraiche, main course of trio of veal, or speciality like Chateaubriand for two, and dessert of classic Crêpes Suzette made tableside. There are daily and Taste the Season menus, and the solid wine list includes ten by the glass. Reflet’s delightful surroundings accommodate up to 60 in groups, and we are sure the central location, historic ambience, lovely surroundings and association with the Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky and all its facilities (including hard-to-find car parking) would make this a popular choice for successful gatherings.
