Cafe Winkel is famous for its apple pie, and this is a well-earned fame. It's excellent. But they also serve other dishes that are worth trying. I recommend their carpaccio and their homemade soups. The waitress that helped us was friendly and professional, and seemed to speak several languages--at least English and Spanish. Though it can get crowded, the place... More

I came to Winkel 43 based on the reviews and the apple pie is amazing! It is probably the best I have ever eaten and was so fresh and tasty. The waiter was super nice and relaxed which I loved. The food was amazing - the salmon was so delicious. It's small, cozy and intimate at night. I really enjoyed... More

We went to taste the famous apple cake, it was tasty but we have had better in Amsterdam. Not worth the fuss.

Amazing mature dutch cheese, tasteful meat balls, the best apple pie of Amsterdam (I suppose it is the best apple pie of Netherlands). It is crowded and payment is confused but the food is great!

Winkel 43 Apple Pie in Amsterdam is NO JOKE! Seriously mind-numbingly good. Less like an apple pie and more like a deep dish apple tart with loads of apple inside. Generous portions given with lots of cream.

The cafe has a warm atmosphere , the servers were all friendly and attentive. I had the chestnut, turnip and apple soup, which was different and very tasty! And of course ordered the apple pie which was excellent.

Winkel 43 is located on the Noordermarkt. It's in the heart of the Jewish quarter the ‘Jordaan’, which is known for its friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Because of its privileged location you'll be able to enjoy your coffee or lunch on our terrace on sunny days all year round. Winkel opens early in the morning till late at night. In the area our homemade apple pie became a general well known delicacy. Therefore tasting a slice is considered a must.

Staying in Jordaan

Neighbourhood Profile
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
