Really great ribs and the chicken satay was amazing. So glad we found this place. Service was good BUT we were over charged by €12 so make sure you check your bill.

The taster beer option is a great, and the ale options extensive, although a little pricey, I guess you get what you pay fir. Relaxed atmosphere, food was fab and minor changes to the menu catered for our children's requests...the beef steak was delicious, burgers were good. We sat upstairs and service was good, although we never got asked for... More

This place is so good! We were looking for something different and found this lovely place. The beers are brewed there and have their own little back stories. The food was great as well. My husband said it was one of the best burgers he's had! Great atmosphere and good service. Just be careful when you visit because it becomes... More

We happened to stumble upon this place on our first night and just popped in for a drink. I had the sample 4 beers from the own brewery and these we fantastic. The staff were great and very helpful. Explaining each type of beer they had with great knowledge. We saw other people eating and the food looked fantastic. We... More

We stopped in this bar after a few hours walking in Amsterdam. The place is nice and the beer not that expensive. The real problem with the place are the waitresses. If I had ordered my beer to a machine I'm sure I would have felt more warmth than with them. But all in all it was a not so... More

Very good place, nothing fancy but just super relaxed. Great bar food, good beer from own brewery, very relaxed waiters right in the middle of city center.. Just go!

This is an authentic Amsterdam cafe, with a very rich history, that doubles as a brewery. Situated on the grounds of a former Bethaniën monastery, that used to offer a home to former workers of the adjacent red light district. There they shows sorrow to there sins and converted to Christianity. The Bekeerde Suster meaning converted sister in old Dutch.... More

A gem near the Nieumarkt, 10mins walk from Dam Square. The Spare ribs are massive and really good! Try the Witte Antonia beer...!

Restaurant 'De Bekeerde Suster' is such a good restaurant, I don't feel like trying something new. The vegetarian 'bonenschotel' is really nice! Note; fries and bread need to be ordered separately!

We came here with a party of seven. Besides the special beers, they also serve lager beer. I had three De Geweaghde Bock-beers and trust, that's enough for the evening. I asked for Vintrus, but they only serve that one in the winter. Atmosphere is good, and the place is well maintained and looks beautiful. Prices are okay. Place is... More

Description
The Bekeerde Suster is a brewpub in the city centre of Amsterdam, close to the Nieuwmarkt. The brewery is at the back of the pub and is worth watching. If you're Lucky you might be able to see the brewmaster live in action...Besides the brewery we offer another 8 beers on tap and at least 45 bottled from breweries all over the world. We serve a good quality lunch and dinner menu, with some classic dishes.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
