I wanted something to eat one night after a couple of beers in the China Town area and, being on my own at the time, thought that this place was just right for me. I was greeted by the cheery staff and given I choice of table. I was offered a drink straight away, which I like in any restaurant... More

I have had a lot of thai food in my life and this was not one of the best. It came out quickly and wasn't very tasty. The chicken was quite dry. It was also quite expensive, given the quality.

Having been here before last year, I went back and the food quality appears to have decreased slightly. The satay wasn't the best cuts of chicken and was overcooked. The TOM kha gai looked great but was a bit watery. The Thai red curry was good. Friendly staff and good price overall. Maybe this was an off night.

We were recommended to eat here by our tour guide who said it was her favourite place. It was very busy when we went and service wasn't great - we were told there was no tap water and charged €3 for a huge bottle... and then watched the table next to us get brought two glasses of tap water. The... More

The people who run the restaurant are one of the best people we met in Amsterdam :-) really nice and polite! Food was delicious, it wasn't crowded and we didn't have to wait long. One of the best places we eat in our trip!

Excellent food with a lovely atmosphere, simple but valuable. In my opinion, every dishes here are worth to try. The service is also super nice, fast and polite. I always come here twice a week or more with my friends. My favorite dish is beef with the basil leaves.

I visited the place in early aftenoon, when there were no other customers.Service was friendly and fast, and also the food came very quickly.I took just thai-sprinrolls and coconut-soup with chicken.Food was quite ok, not the best thai-food which I have eaten.Specially the soup was a bit tasteless. Decoration was very basic and reduced. The were some unpleasent and dirty smell... More

So we made a reservation online and we arrived at 7:30 on thefork.com. No information on our reservation. There was flies around our table. I got the fish cakes but they were so rubbery. I got the chicken in oyster sauce. Again, rubbery chicken. The only thing this place really has going for itself is the location.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
