Excellent menu of homemade ingredients you can pick and choose from to make your own sandwhich. Everything was fresh and tasty. Although it is small inside we got a seat outdoors and the service was efficient and friendly. Would highly reccomend broodbar for a good lunch.

Lovely sandwiches! The warm pastrami sandwich was everything i needed on this rainy day. We had a piece of apple pie as desert, which was equally beautiful. The lady behind the counter was nice and sociable, she made us feel comfortable and welcome. The homemade bread pudding bits you get with your coffee give it a nice touch. Would absolutely... More

A very small and typical cafè, just some minutes walking from Nieumarkt. A quiet corner, perfect for breakfast, brunch or a quick lunch. We really loved this place, simple and peaceful, beautiful atmosphere and nice waitress. There's a little kitchen that makes you feel at home, and you can watch while they make your food. Super! I will surely come... More

Just a short stroll away from the Nieuwmarkt is this lovely tiny Broodbar. A wonderful place to have a quick lunch, they serve freshly baked different types of bread and you can choose your spread on it. A really nice place to enjoy a typical dutch lunch with bread.

A small lunch / sandwich / cake / sweets cafe. With a real kitchen and real people working in it. With real I mean: not overly polished, not overly tidy, bur real honest food, great tastes and a staff that is actually a real person. With an opinion. That is something completely different than rude as some people say here.... More

We enjoyed our first visit so much we came back 2 days later. A typical corner cafe near canals in the centrum which provided a variety of snacky food. We had hot chocolate, a coffee and apple cake which was out of this world. The prices were reasonable for a major city basic cafe. Limited seating.

I visited this place twice in last 2 weeks. In both cases service was not the best in the meaning that the person working was making us favor Selling and preparing food. What turned me off today was the fact that when we arrived girl was smoking outside blocking the door when we came and ordered 2 pieces of quiche... More

Nice small place at the side of the Nieuwemarkt with wide choice of sandwiches and cakes. Most of them prepared on spot with fresh products. The carrot cake and apple pie was delicious while sitting at the window watching the crowed go by. For lunch or a coffee with cake this is a place that has reasonable prices compare to... More

Love this little café, very cute and great place for breakfast/brunch/lunch. Found it on a visit last year and managed to find it again this time. Great sandwiches, cakes, coffee all made fresh. Had a meatloaf sandwich which was delicious. Lovely lady serving behind the counter too, who I think the place probably belongs to, you can tell she takes... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
