This restaurant has been in Amsterdam for years. Very pleasant staff but the food has never been great. It’s almost like a historical hippie landmark more than a place for a great vegetarian meal. Juices, soups, salads, teas, you can’t go wrong. I’ve had cooked meals that were slightly burned or dry, nothing innovative or that had me saying," this is... More

This little cafe type restaurant is quaint and the staff was very friendly. But the food did not WOW us. We expected more from this place given so many great reviews. They have limited seating and close a bit early. It is a bit pricey and they do not take credit cards, so bring cash.

A real authentic home for vegan and vegetarian food. I had a great lasagna. My wife had the vegetarian menu special and it was amazing.

Tried this place last year and again this year, felt little choice so went for the Ragout/Curry Croissant..again! Great Coffee. The Croissant was dry and miserable, did not taste of anything, the salads with them were also in need of resuscitation, not sure why food was like this, just lacking in flavour and excitement, cakes in the fridge did not look good either, apart from... This was probably the best vegetarian food I've ever eaten! Cosy atmosphere, friendly and efficient staff, lovely surroundings overlooking the canal, and - probably the most important thing in a restaurant - excellent food in ample portions! In short, don't miss this next time you go to Amsterdam!

We were lucky to get a table. Three of us tried three different dishes. All of the dishes were very good. It was a good experience.

We tried afrikan dish and vegan dish of the day. Both the dishes were really good. We had organic beer as well. Just we are not big fan of dark beer so felt beer was just ok. Total amount came out to be about 40€.

Fresh organic juices come from the supermarket plastic bottle. The kitchen seriously needs some cleaning.

There is a lot of really unhealthy food in Amsterdam. Dutch food centers around meat, bread and cheese. This place is a welcome relief--fresh squeezed grapefruit juice, amazing salads, fantastic vegetarian lasagne, lovely huge slices of quiche. Plus tempting vegan desserts. I live in the neighborhood and go all of the time. This place has been here forever, and it... More

Spouse and I ate here on the recommendation of our quasi vegetarian daughter who ate here on a visit to Amsterdam last year. Arrived on a Monday evening 8 pm and were promptly informed that they were out of the vegan dish and the North African dish. We ordered an Asian stir fry and a casserole, plus a guacamole appetizer... More

Staying in Jordaan

Neighbourhood Profile
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
