Apart from their European style steak and great crème brûlée, just try their great Brazilian chocolate.

My umpteen's visit and still surprisingly good, how they keep the level up is truly amazing. Old favorites remain on the menu: steak béarnaise is to die for: cooked to perfection, elegantly cut; breezy sauce with a velvety touch. I had the day menu: wonderful piece of halibut with a crème of turnip in a beetroot broth with trompettes de... More

If you are looking for steak tartare and escargot, you won't find any better place in Amsterdam than this one here. Tartare mentioned as main course in the menu, but you can ask smaller portion if you wish for starter. They prepared fresh with your own preferences on spice level and let you try before serving the whole portion. Not... More

We went there for dinner. Very nice place. The bar at the entrance have many diffrent kind of bourbon, scotchs and gin. The menu is well prepared. French cuisine. We start with escargots and pate maison. Both was very good. Main dish we had chicken and fish both very good again. And the best good prices.

This restaurant has long been on my wish list. Owned by a famous Dutch TV Chef and the place to be seen for toute Amsterdam. The interior was intimate - perhaps the tables were just a little too close together. A warm red decor and mirrored walls. The food was a little disappointing I thought but then again we did... I had a Place fish that was incredible. The tables are set close together with a red seats and mirrors. I was a bit put off by the staff trying to get me to order a drink before I'd even sat down. The service was a bit uneven. One waiter was terrific and other not very good. All in all... More

I have heard so much about this place it was number one on my places to eat. The place was packed but the food, French Bistro, was a big disappointment for me. The Tuna Pizza was good average on other dishes. Service was slow. Much better places to spend your money.

Le Garage - The story As the name suggests, restaurant "Le Garage" used to be a garage. The parallel becomes more obvious when we realize that a restaurant is essentially a place where people come to be repaired - or restored."You enter tired and exhausted by the drag of daily life, but you leave refreshed and uplifted", that is the trade of the restaurateur. A human skill that involves observing, feeling and smiling. People should enjoy being with you. We, of "Le Garage" are trying to make a difference by offering such a welcome, supported by culinary craftmanship, wine advice and atmosphere. On April 1st 1990, the interior designed by our friend and regular designer Cees Dam (amongst other things known from the 'Muziektheater') was opened with a grandiose party, which was attended by a thousand guests. The place is very much sought after: it can still be hard to get a table.Seeing and being seen, along with tasty dishes and cheerful wines, the recipe for an evening out. Joop F. Braakhekke, propriétaire

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
