Me and my girlfriend were looking got an Indian restaurant when we came across this place and went in with an open mind. Girlfriend asked for tap water and was flatly refused as the waiter says they don't have tap water! Place was empty when we arrived and we then proceeded onto the meal where we ordered the lamb saag... More

Was looking for a nice Indian meal with my husband whilst in Amsterdam. Was walking past and was persuaded to come in by a guy canvassing at the entrance. Had a glance at the menu and thought it was a bit pricey (around 16 euros for a main meal curry) but thought that others would probably be the same so... More

We a group of Indians had a terrible experience. As per me the food serving is not at all comparable with real Indian food. Manager of this restaurant is a tricky guy. He told the chef was worked in Taj Hotel in India and mentioned a lot about their food. But from the quality of the food I can judge... More

Dear Sir, Thanks for your views. You complained to us that starters were not spicy enough and wanted your mains as "Madras Hot". Then you compained that your mains were too spicy. If you are Indian you should also know that once a madras hot dish is made no chef in the world can tone it down. We couldn't honor... More

Visited the hotel with my family and friends. At the entrance an Indian guy was canvasing the customers, explaining its the ever best Indian restaurant in Amsterdam. After getting there, the owner himself came to take the order and he was explaining that you have to order more and the quantity we ordered wont be sufficient. Again he was mentioning... More

Thanks for your review. At the end of your diner you said " food was very good". However your mood changed since water was mentioned on the bill. You ordered one side dish with two rotis and a rice for three people. Your bill was around 30 Euros for 3 people and you are still venting your discomfort. Yes a... More

The restaurant is on the first floor and we were walking past when we saw the restaurant. There was a watchman whose main job was to ensure that people went inside. We were early and so were lucky to get a seat by one of the few windows. The restaurant is dimly lit and so any light was welcome. The... More

Dear Madame, Thanks for your review. It's great that you could agree with the quality of the food. Even in mumbai clients are not allowed to come in with their own bottles of drinks. So when you do come in with a bottle do ask the restaurant if you can consume your own drinks. It's not always the question of... More

We are 2 very open-minded Canadians who ate at Maurya with 4 new friends (2 other Canadians, and 2 Swedes) on our first night in Amsterdam. We too were lured in by the host outside. The first red flag should have been that we were the only people in the restaurant. The second red flag should have been the over... More

We were lured by a friendly guy at the door who offered a 10% discount if we eat. The bill came and there was no mention of the discount. We asked the manager who was extremely pushy and made stories that the discount was on main course and we ordered side dishes. I am from India, I know what is... More

We were also lured upstairs by the friendly guy at the door. We were looking for a snack, it was still early and we weren't that hungry. The wine was reasonable at 3.75€. Hubbies beer was flat and warm and he couldn't finish it (the beer choices very limited, I think there was a choice of 2). We only wanted... More

A very bad experience as while we were eating one mouse (maybe there are more) started to run around. We told the owner of the restaurant about this, but he was just trying to find excuses saying that all the buildings in the center of Amsterdam are full of mice. No apologies, nothing. The prices are also way too high... More
