Before frites, kebabs, pizzas and marijuana joints, Amsterdam had previous food tradition. In the current stoned-tourist-forward Amsterdam, it's very hard to find a place where you can get a decent meal where you can feel the past of the dutch cuisine. The Pantry is the...More

The food is just delicious, the atmosphere is nice and the staff is super friendly. A "must" for sure. However it's a little bit pricey, but absolutely worth it.

I was a little worried when I first showed up here -- I guess I made my reservation for a bit earlier time than normal, and there was almost no one here. But it was PACKED by the time I left! And for good reason...More

First, read their menu on their web site. It is Danish food! We were traveling with another couple and they were expecting German food. Sorry, that isn’t the answer. Overall, it was very good. The service was excellent. The food was very good. Either get...More

This was a little gem we stumbled across and there was a long queue of diners waiting for a table always a good sign. We ate the recommended meatball dish which was delicious. Staff were friendly and it was reasonably priced. A great place to...More

Tipped by a Dutch colleague, we went to this restaurant to try local food where locals eat. There’s a lot of choice out there for vegetarians, pescatarians and carnivores. I tried the herring as a starter and the salmon with the lobster sauce as a...More

Loved the home cooked style food and the low key pub atmosphere of this eating place, a relief where a lot of places are touristy or look good, but the food doesn't measure up. The food here was all excellent and the staff friendly and...More

Tried to get in on on arrival night in Amsterdam but without a reservation were unable to. Made one for tonight and we were in. Herring appetizer was good perhaps a bit more vinegar would have helped but that could be personal preference. The Beef...More

Been coming here for a few years after one wet and cold Amsterdam evening. It looked hot steamy and moorish. And it was! Lovely place, energetic staff:) Make reservations!

Hi there. Simply emailed and replied the next day. Our booking was made roughly a week in advance but I believe they had bookings available for the following night when we were there. So a few days would be a good bet. Hope... More

Description
The Pantry Imagine a restaurant version of the successful TV show I Love Holland, and that is what The Pantry is like. This cosy restaurant near the Leidseplein distinguishes itself with its typically Dutch atmosphere and traditional old-Dutch dishes. Hospitality is important. The staff understands the dining and hospitality business and have worked here for years, during which the recognition of this restaurant has been ever increasing. The Dutch living room atmosphere is enhanced by the use of lampshades, Delftware and old paintings on the wall, complemented by the background music. The Pantry works exclusively with fresh, homemade products. Its location in the Leidseplein neighbourhood makes this an ideal restaurant to eat before catching a theatre show or movie. The doors open from eleven in the morning, so it's also a great place to go for lunch
