An overwhelming feast of fish, seafood, meat, game, not to mention a wide array of vegetables and tongue-tickling sorbets. Most noteworthy were prawns and goose, washed down with a tart but delicious German Riesling. One of our best dinners in a long time!

We had a group dinner here to celebrate a birthday. There were a lot of vegans in the group and everybody was taken care of by the restaurant team perfectly. In fact a full vegan menu was offered to us. The place is cosy with...luxe chairs and we enjoyed the evening very much. The ones who had the full fish and meat dinner were also very happy with the choice of this place.More

A perfect way to end a rainy day in Amsterdam. From arrival, the blue coloured walls with big wooden masks make for a pleasant atmosphere. The spicy food and warm service helps you recover from the cold in the streets. Tasty and varied menu in...nice company, what else can you ask for a perfect evening.More

Nice vegan rijsttafel!! Small place but nice & cosy. Very hospitable staff. Good food and really liked the vegan rijsttafel... mix of spicy & nom-spicy delicacies.

We dined here on the13th. Very interesting and tasty dishes with a new twist on traditional rijsttafel dishes. Hard to understand the comment in another review about foreign restaurant menus - we were in the Netherlands! Service was polite and friendly. The price for what...we had perfectly reasonable, The great majority of reviews are positive.More

This restaurant is trying to sevre and popularise a modern, updated version of Indonesian food with great culinary skill. All the traditional dishes retain the expected intense and spicy flavours and layered cooking so central to the Indonesian kitchen. The modern dishes scattered throughout the...menu - goose, wild guinea etc. - introduce unusual items in Indonesian sauces and spices to add to an exciting new experience. The space is clearly too small for a busy Valentine's evening, but cosy and warm enough. Very interesting restaurant!More

A summary of this place? -One of the worst-looking (extremely poorly laid-out, unclear, and ugly) and least descriptive menus I've ever seen, leading you to have to ask the waiter about pretty much everything they have. All foreign menu items give you no hint at...all as to what they contain. -The food is extremely mediocre for the price asked. -What are the prices like? 6 euros for water, at a restaurant where spicy food is the norm. 15 euros for two tiny kip satés. 10 euros for literally two bites of chocolate cake. -Predatory marketing. -When a kind man next to us gave the restaurant a tip after having a very expensive meal, they were literally rude in accepting it. -The above forms a pattern of behavior with Blue Pepper: they have a serious attitude problem. If you want to see how pretentious this place is by their own words, sort by negative reviews on this page and check their management's extremely snappy and childish responses to the honest negative reviews they've gotten. Some select examples of their behavior include disbelieving that one of their negative reviewers was Indonesian simply because the restaurant "didn't remember having an unsatisfied Indonesian customer" - something you wouldn't even be able to tell by the customer's looks alone - followed by saying their prices are fine because "they're listed on the website" (lame excuse, and shows they don't care about walk-ins), and that another negative reviewer was incorrect not to like it because a well-known Dutch guy who visited did seem to like it, and therefore the restaurant clearly does nothing wrong; followed by telling a customer that given the negative experience he had, he simply must not have been at their restaurant. -Literally the only good thing I can say about this restaurant is the mood lighting was decent, and our waiter was a nice guy. That's it. Wasn't his fault everything else was bad with horrid prices and stuck-up management. I have been to many restaurants over the years, and this was one of my absolute least enjoyed ones ever. I almost never write negative reviews because I can usually find something great in every place, but I would truly not recommend this restaurant to absolutely anyone. This was the worst Valentine's Day restaurant experience I've ever had, and my party left extremely disappointed. Go here only if you want to be relentlessly overcharged for sparse, average-quality food you can easily get at a nearby and far less stuck-up place.More

We chose Blue Pepper for our Dutch client dinner because of its high ratings and reputation. Despite several changes in our itinerary and guest list and a few difficult food restrictions, they took very good care of us. Nothing was too much for them and...those of us who chose some a la carte options were as happy as the others who mostly opted for their famous Indonesian rice table. Wine suggestions by the glass were plentiful as most of us wanted different things. An Indonesian beer was also available. We would definitely be interested in trying their dinner cruise during a warmer season. Very professional service and delicious food.More

We were here on a Thursday evening and given the weather and the off-season period was not so busy. So we could observe all the action in the kitchen. Dish after dish was turned out by an elderly lady working with assistants while the guests...were taken care of by another charming lady. Each and every dish was perfect, offering variations of spices and spiciness. The whole meal was a window into th best of family cooking, served up in a very beautifully designed living room-like atmosphere with curated art pieces. Service was faultlessly attentive and knowledgeable, but the food was just sublime, fresh and to die for. We are not very active on social media but we would definitely recommend this place to family and friends back home. Thanks for a wonderful evening!More

Went here for a group dinner on Saturday night. Food was excellent and service was fast too. I found the menu was small but all very tasty options as we got lots to share. I’d recommend to book as it’s small and seemed to be...full for the night!More
